SHOCKING WATCH 'Black Water' Was Pouring Out of Faucets
http://youtu.be/6SyScFUJog8/ 02:43 Authorities in one Texas town were scrambling to pass out bottled water on Friday after its water supply reportedly turned black. This “black water” problem apparently began in Crystal City on Wednesday. Disturbing photos showed a thick dark liquid coming out of faucets after officials had flushed the water tower to begin a renovation, according to Fox 29. Water officials from neighboring San Antonio delivered a 5,000-gallon tank of water on Friday, calling it “the right thing to do” given their own excess water supply They say the tank should be more than enough to supply every household in the area. Meanwhile, Crystal City officials are assuring residents that the water tower has been restored to normal and no longer runs black. But they are cautioning residents to boil their tap water until next week, just in case. http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/02/20/texas-san-antonio-water-supply-delivers-after-black-water-reported-crystal-city/ ---------------------------------------------------- http://foxsanantonio.com/news/local/saws-delivers-water-for-crystal-city-residents/ SAWS delivers water for Crystal City residents By Fox San Antonio Friday, February 19th 2016 SAWS Crystal City Water.jpg SAWS delivers water for Crystal City residents (Fox San Antonio) CRYSTAL CITY, Texas -- Help arrived for the town of Crystal City Friday after its water supply turned black earlier this week. The San Antonio Water System arrived about 3 p.m. with a 5,000-gallon tank of water. SAWS says it's more than enough to supply every household in Crystal City. The director of the Crystal City water tower says the water tower hasn't been completely emptied in at least 20 years. On Wednesday, they flushed the tower to begin a major renovation, and that's when the water turned black. Friday morning, the city supplied bottled water to the elderly and disabled. SAWS was also there Friday afternoon passing out one-gallon water jugs as well as allowing people to refill their personal jugs. "Anytime we have a neighbor in need, it's the right thing to do is help," explained Gavino Ramos of San Antonio Water System. "So when we became aware of the situation going on here in Crystal City, we realized being very fortunate of having a vast water portfolio, we were able to help out." We were told the San Antonio Food Bank also plans to deliver more bottled water for the residents of Crystal City. The city of Crystal City says the tower is back up and running as normal. The water is no longer running black, but they are still recommending residents boil their faucet water until Tuesday, just to be safe. Statement from TCEQ: In response to a complaint regarding Crystal City's water quality, TCEQ investigators were on site within hours to test the water at five different representative locations on Feb. 18th. These measurements were compliant with chlorine residual and pressure Safe Drinking Water Act requirements at the tested locations. The city has informed TCEQ that they have taken bacteriological samples. This data will be reviewed by TCEQ, once the laboratory analysis is complete, to determine whether the Boil Water Notice the city provided in response to concerns associated with the elevated tank maintenance should remain in effect. In the meantime, the TCEQ advises the public, as a precautionary measure, to boil the water. In addition, if the water is discolored, do not drink it. Further, TCEQ will conduct water sampling for a full suite review of the city's primary and secondary standards under the Safe Drinking Water Act. TCEQ has and will continue to diligently monitor the situation and work with the city to ensure the citizens of Crystal City have drinking water that is protective of public health. |

Haven't seen black water coming from the taps... Yet.
But, every month with the water bill, there's a new health warning about yet, another new contaminant in the water. I won't drink it. And, it's to the point, I don't even like letting my dogs drink water from the city. |

Black water is common many places. If the chlorine is kept too low, an algae grows on the walls of the pipes. When the water system is shut down or disturbed, the algae falls off and makes the water black.
I happens here and you just run the water for enough time to flush the crap out. Not too big a deal. |

http://cw39.com/2016/02/22/black-water-in-crystal-city/ Black water in Crystal City Posted 9:03 PM, February 22, 2016, by fdproducer CRYSTAL CITY, TX - Things aren't exactly 'crystal clear' in Crystal City. Folks in the small, south Texas town were horrified when black sludge started spewing out of the hydrants and faucets. City officials say the black, stinky water came from sediment that leaked into distribution lines while the town's water tower was being cleaned. Apparently, it hadn't been cleaned in decades. Crystal City calls itself "The Spinach Capital of the World," but even Popeye is puzzled by this mess. To boil or not to boil the water? Even that answer is unclear in Crystal City. Some city officials say the water is safe to drink now, but they're certainly running low in the "trust" department. Earlier this month, the FBI arrested most of the top city officials, including mayor Ricardo Lopez, for allegedly taking bribes and kickbacks. Clearly, the dirt runs deep in Crystal City. 'Life water' Water bottle or Jerry can works real well to filter out bad water. ( not store bought water ). |
