Topic: MEETING STRANGERS | |

Well, we are all strangers til we meet and converse.
Nothing wrong with chatting up a stranger ... I make comments and conversation in lineups at the bank or store... I try to remember to have business cards on me just in case.... |

I try to remember to have business cards on me just in case.... I had cards with me, just never thought to use them. That's why they pay me the big bucks, |

I do the same thing, use to keep to myself and not even make eye contact with people. But now I like to strike up conversations with strangers. Weather is always a good ice breaker, especially in Ohio where it changes every 10 minutes.

I tend to 'meet strangers' every time I venture out.
It costs me nothing to make eye contact with, smile at and engage those that cross my path. Getting a smile or a friendly word in return, makes my day a bit happier. |

If I am out and about town, or even travelling around in far away places....Tasmania, was second to last place I visited, and I bumped into a few fellow Canadians . I always introduce myself, or hand out one of my cards, so now we are not strangers any more.Oh! yeah the Canadians I met in Tasmania were living the retired life out there...those little Tazzie devils.....

Good topic xxxtobyxxx; I had an encounter like that once with a lovely young Japanese lady on a long train journey who had a seat reserved beside mine. After about 4 hours of some nice discussion she was extremely polite to ask me to have dinner with her that evening as the train pulled in. I was very grateful by her request but had to refuse her offer because not only was she touring with friends. I had an important meeting to attend and we both parted with cheerful smiles.
Quite funny how circumstances like that arise. |

The card thing is something I think is awesome. I frequently use mine and they are custom printed from my own art so if I give a gentleman one he generally contacts me.
I have even had people I chatted with in airport or at conference a year or more before contact me and say hey I finally get to come to California could we meet for a nice meal and more conversation. Sharing your Mingle addy is a great way to filter someone you are not quite sure about but has at least made a nice impression. My theory has always been it is a small world and a stranger is just a friend you may like to get to know better. Sure you want to be security smart but there are a lot more nice people in the world than evil. |
