I really dont think you will encounter a genuine military guy on here, giving you BS. A true military guy won't do that...he is ready to give all for his Queen and Country...so why BS anyone...all I am saying...

Speaking as a former military person, depending on the subject it's getting us to shut up that's the problem. However the sad fact is that not all people on this site clamming to be military actually are.

Now that you mention it, yeah, those are the guys that are fresh out of boot and trying to get married quick so they can live off base or get stationed state side. Yes, watch out for them.

Some points to remember...

Scammers use fake military service as "stolen valor". Watch out!

Real military men come in all types, most good but not all. Give them time to prove themselves.

The real ones deserve a place of honor. Respect that.

I admire that you guys are so open minded. I admit it is a failing of mine . I do not trust any profile with military as the profession. They have sent me friend requests on skype, message me randomly on whatsapp and approached me in the chatroom. All of them are widowed , all have one child and all claim that they are god-fearing. I block them every single time. But if a person is gracious enough to give them a chance , I guess money will be the dealbreaker. If they ask for a financial contribution , which they are likely to do in less than a month , its probably time to cut all ties.

If a military member is single with dependents then the military requires them to have a care plan for the child which includes having an appointed guardian; usually the death of a parent is considered grounds for hardship discharge weather they want it or not.

Occasionally in desperation the military member will attempt to marry anyone they can "sweet talk" but many times the marriages fail. Military life is much more difficult than it sounds.

99% of the people that claim to be military are in fact scammers that have taken photos and service records off Wikipedia or Facebook or Military family web sites from the lowest ranks to the highest ones.

My experience with military men from this site is like a sitcom . I talked to a man recently claiming to be in the military and widowed . I told him he had his work cut out for him .. laughed and asked him to tell me about his military career. His response was disbelief and he told me what a bad first impression I had just made . His next message was asking if we could talk off site . Bingo .. Laughing . As I told him . If he is looking for someone gullible he chose poorly . i apologised fir upsetting his ego but mot for questioning the word of a stranger . The onus will always be on him to give credibility to his claims and if he is unwilling to do so he will have little success . I cannot repeat his response .. Laughing but hardly that of an educated military man blushing blushing tongue2

Well ... a few got traumatic brain injuries ....
