I have messaged or nudged just about everyone in my area and all they do is view my profile and never respond. I'm not sure if my profile just sucks or I'm ugly or both, but it sure is disheartening.

come in here and talk on the forums and get to know people here... you can try till you're blue in the face with "cold calls", and get no-where.... this is the best bet.... here, they can actually get to know you as a person.
 in any site, go to the forums... this works for business sites with a chat room.... even "The Weather Channel" chat is awesome for this... but here, it's a running diatribe, which is better.... good luck.
