Why does ones permission get denied to get into a forum?

A long time ago there was a raw recruit into the British army.
Operation Granby it was called. Part of operation desert storm. His friends were under attack from a machine gun turret. He asked his commanding officer if he could 'go over the top' and try to take out this machine gun. His officer replied 'permission denied' 2 minutes later air support arrived and an RAF plane dropped a bomb right on top of the machine gun. That young recruit is now an old guy and still around to tell the tale, so the learning curve is this. Be patient, good things come to he who waits
