Psychologically prayer has a calming influence 'cause face it due to faith you're talkin to somebody who cares a lot and the phrase "give it up to the Lord" means your interested in fulfilling God's will, which is way you ask for guidance in the first place, so both are normally included in prayers whether its mentioned or not.
