Donald Trump called Monday for a "total and complete shutdown" of the entry of Muslims to the United States "until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on."

In a statement released by his campaign Monday afternoon, Trump included recent poll findings that he says show that a sizable segment of the Muslim population has "great hatred towards Americans."

"Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension," Trump is quoted as saying in the statement. "Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life."

At a rally in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina on Monday evening, Trump pointed to the statement he released earlier in the day.

“Should I read you the statement?” he asked.

The crowd enthusiastically agreed that he should.

“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on,” he said, adding the word “hell" for emphasis this time.

Supporters erupted in applause.

“We have no choice. We have no choice,” Trump said. "We have no choice.”

Earlier in the rally, which was interrupted by protests, Trump said, "I have friends that are Muslims. They are great people -- but they know we have a problem."

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told the Associated Press that the ban would apply to "everybody," including both immigrants and tourists. Soon after the statement was released, Trump tweeted that he had "just put out a very important policy statement on the extraordinary influx of hatred and danger coming into our country." He added in the tweet: "We must be vigilant!"

In an interview on Fox News Channel shortly ahead of his campaign rally, Trump was asked whether his policy would apply to Muslim military personnel stationed overseas who want to come home.

"They will come home. We have to be vigilant," he responded. "We have to take care of the Muslims that are living here. But we have to be vigilant."

He later added: "Anybody here stays, but we have to be very vigilant... This does not apply to people living in the country except that we have to be vigilant."

In the past month, particularly following the recent mass shooting in Southern California that is believed to have been inspired by the Islamic State terrorist group, Trump has called for greater scrutiny of Muslims -- including Muslim Americans who are legal residents of the country. He has said he would support heavy surveillance of mosques, bar Syrian refugees of all religions from entering the country and would consider establishing a database to track all Muslims in the country. But Trump's statement on Monday was his most controversial proposal yet.

Trump typically announces major positions like this in media interviews or at rallies, rarely issuing formal statements. The statement immediately sparked rounds of questions about how such a policy would work, along with strong criticism.

"Oh, my goodness," said Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director at the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "One has to wonder what Donald Trump will say next as he ramps up his anti-Muslim bigotry. Where is there left for him to go? Are we talking internment camps? Are we talking the final solution to the Muslim question? I feel like I'm back in the 1930s."

What worried Hooper, he said, was the premeditated nature of Trump's statement.

"He feels perfectly okay saying this," said Hooper. "It's not an open mic moment, where he has to walk something back. This was a statement from his campaign. They had to believe that this would be well received by his supporters. We've always had anti-Muslim bigots, but they've always been at the fringes of society. Now they want to lead it. In saner times, his campaign would be over. In insane times, his campaign can gain support. And that's why he put it out."

It's a good start but it's not enough. He should follow in FDR's lead and do what we did with the Japanese in WW2. Send all Muslims into interment camps until they are COMPLETELY checked out and label CAIR as a domestic terrorist organization.

Complicated.. & touchy subject.
Not in my mind. But, I do think it is for most people.
I think we (as a nation) have been so programmed with PC & fear of offending & fear of ridicule (like Europe has had for 5+ yrs), that we are at the point of risking our own safety.

I agree with the psychologist (s) who say (paraphrasing), that Trump's popularity is growing because people are feed up & he says what people are already (& have been thinking).

After Obama's (3rd Oval office speech, before he ran off to party in Washington DC, Kennedy Center honors.. with Tyler Perry etc.).
I think more & more people will now think, ' at least Trump stands for something, at least he is willing to put USA first.'

Trump is NOT the first to say
... put a stop to new Muslim arrivals, or the second politician. * Rand, Cruz etc.* He is just the most vocal & adamant.

Should we put a stop to it?
YES. For many reasons.
( here are some main points)

1- Safety & national security must come first. We must think of the future & our own survival as individuals & as a whole.

2- I don't want to risk a 'round up' like we (as Americans did with the Japanese).
And we must consider, with this administration's definition who is radical (& the DOJ definition).. WHO would next, for 'round up '?

Hate Map | Southern Poverty Law Center http://www.splcenter.org/hate-map/ * over 700 listed *

3- No way is this country turning to Islam & Shari law. And giving up our freedoms, Constitution, Bill of rights , or personal religions or cultures.. Or American culture itself. etc.

Will this stop terrorism? NO.
Will Muslims lie so they can get in? YES.
Will it lessen the blow in the long run? YES.

Islam Permits Lying to Deceive Unbelievers and Bring World Domination! http://www.muslimfact.com/bm/terror-in-the-name-of-islam/islam-permits-lying-to-deceive-unbelievers-and-bri~print.shtml/

4- We can't NOT end up like Europe. (And there are distinct patterns by religion, countries & crimes & REFUSAL to assimilate.
And from I have read.. Canada is turning willing & rapidly.

5- WHY should we continue to let so many in from South of the boarder & South America, which are predominantly Roman Catholic, in to The United States of America, predominantly Protestant & then (USA & Canada) North America turn Islamic!?

Americans have 4-5 major religions & we have done well with that. We don't need one who's mission is ONE religion.

6- We (technically), do not have nor do American's want an ' open door policy ' for anyone to come in with their hand out because they don't like their own country.
We take in more migrants (already) than any other country. We don't track the 13 million illegals we already have. We ignore & do not utilize our pre- existing laws (immigration etc).

7- We are over populated. And this theory that we need more people to increase & sustain this nation is propaganda.
* And American men are NOT willing to give 4 virgins to each refugee with a penis. And from a woman's point of view.. short, skinny, uncircumcised men.. telling us what to do.. sharing them with with 3 other women.. Well that is a definite NO thank you *

8- We are flat a@@ broke.
Not a secret. We can't take care of our own. Enough is enough.

So NO

Trumps a genius.

Now he can build a wall across the southern and northern border.

And if he makes the border walls out of pork, it'll keep out the Muslims too.

Win win. 2 birds 1 stone. Budget neutral, let it feed people instead of food stamps. Yay!

Today's "forms" of communication, the speed of it's output to society, and the biases, agendas, and politics behind the monopolies that control the major networks spewing their control speak, the nations people stand confused if not divided on what to believe.

Trump is probably the worst possible choice for POTUS but he is speaking the opposite of the lies we are constantly fed by the corporate sponsored sleazebags we call our govt! He's not a politician, a plus, but he is a major "insider", and at the top of the 1% list we were supposed to be against last year.

Remember the Crusades? The Inquisition? The Salem witch hunts? How Hitler came to power?

What is religion but another form of control based on an ideology?

Just like guns, it's not the tool but the minds and hands of those who wield them.

I do believe we should halt all chance of allowing refugees into the US without a proper vetting, but with those from these war torn areas of the ME, it's impossible! What govt agency has their records... that's still working.... or even standing at this point.

One fact that is known, the USA is considered "the great satan", and not just to those who have been radicalized.

It get's better then that. One of the leaders of CAIR defended the terrorist attack in Southern California saying America was to blame!

It's time to take this country back, round these a$$holes up and put them in camps and send their a$$es back to the Middle East. If they want to live in an Islamic culture so much they can go live in Iran or Pakistan.

Reminder: Jimmy Carter banned all Iranians from entering US

In Election, Immigration by Poor RichardDecember 8, 2015Leave a Comment

This is just a reminder to all the liberal Democrats out there wringing their hands about Donald Trump’s latest comments.

from Front Page:

During the Iranian hostage crisis, Carter issued a number of orders to put pressure on Iran. Among these, Iranians were banned from entering the United States unless they oppose the Shiite Islamist regime or had a medical emergency.

Here’s Jimmy “Hitler” Carter saying it back in 1980.

Fourth, the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly.

Apparently barring people from a terrorist country is not against “our values” after all. It may even be “who we are”. Either that or Carter was a racist monster just like Trump.

Meanwhile here’s how the Iranian students in the US were treated.

Carter orders 50,000 Iranian students in US to report to immigration office with view to deporting those in violation of their visas. On 27 December 1979, US appeals court allows deportation of Iranian students found in violation.

In November 1979, the Attorney General had given all Iranian students one month to report to the local immigration office. Around 7,000 were found in violation of their visas. Around 15,000 Iranians were forced to leave the US.

carters policies against the country of iran applied to ALL of its populace
regardless of their religious affiliation.....iranian muslims ((the vast majority)) and also
iranian jews & christians ((granted, a very small minority)) nonetheless, it was
