could of been one of these blowhard types who loves to listen to sound of his own voice..who sits for hours pontificating on this subject and that... your only job is to nod and say " uh huh" every once in awhile as he drones on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on... |

if you want to talk to me on the phone.. at least speak up, enunciate, and have something to frickin' say.. monosyllable conversations are boring..
- maybe the guy wants you to see him as a guy, a "real" man, rather than a teenage girl that just HAS to tell you all about the "omg's!" that happened that day. - maybe the guy has so much going on in his head he freezes up, constantly wondering what he should reveal about himself. - maybe the guy really has absolutely no desire at all to talk on the phone, chit chatting on the phone is the unspoken of 10th circle of hell to him, but he's so interested in you he at least tries to do it, and just the act itself is overcoming some serious hurdles but it interferes with his conversation. - maybe the guy thinks calling you is like a test. like you were talking online and he feels you demanded he call you to prove he was real. He called, proved he was real, so...mission accomplished, and any further phone interaction was purely for your benefit. He did what he felt he had to. - maybe the guy was putting you through kind of a test. he calls, and how you respond to him calling tells him how interested you are in him. - maybe the guy has been trying to date online for sooooooo long without any kind of success that he calls and then realizes he's completely out of practice with chatting to women on the phone. Hasn't done it since he was a teenager. And everything that almost comes out of his mouth sounds stupid, so he doesn't say it. - maybe the guy has been online dating for so long he's acclimated to the benefits of typing, or has just become used to texting. Of being able to self edit, to sit and think before responding, of being able to receive information, sit on it for a while, and then respond, or he's used to getting a one line text, sending a one line text, and then being given time to come up with something else. - maybe the guy is so used to having to bend over backwards for online princesses, to basically twist himself into all kinds of pretzels in an attempt to keep a woman from just disappearing or discontinuing to email him, that he's waiting for relevant information from her about how he should converse on the phone. He might be preoccupied with the single thought of "ask her to meet, ask her to meet, ask her to meet!" but thinks if he does, she's going to run off or blow him off because she seems to just want to chat on the phone. - maybe the guy just wasn't all that interested and called just to give it one more chance before he decided "meh, not really into this," and if she responded with enthusiasm and interest it might spark an interest on his end. One thing I wish I knew is if "speak up, enunciate, and have something to frickin' say.. monosyllable conversations are boring" was said to the guy. Or if the conversation was just kinda strained, with one or both people hiding behind a social facade, and then when it was over they come running to the internet to vent how they "really" felt. |

Actually, he was the one who suggested to talk on the phone first and he made a time to call - after a short discussion .. I was talking and I heard a beep, beep and the line went dead - was it a dropped call, or did he suddenly hang up? Funny thing is, the monosyllable conversation seemed like he may have been in hiding when calling. I don't know.. I would have been ok just meeting in person for a coffee..I'm already starting to sour... |

well that sucks..could been worse could of been one of these blowhard types who loves to listen to sound of his own voice..who sits for hours pontificating on this subject and that... your only job is to nod and say " uh huh" every once in awhile as he drones on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on... As bad as that is I think to have him bash his ex non stop for a 1/2 hour is worse. |

personally... I believe you can get a lot out of talking to someone on the phone a few times ... but why not meet just in case they may be different then you thought ... ok so they weren't any different but nice to meet them ...
