Topic: Admin- Spam threads | |
---|---|
Admin, is there anything that can be done about the plethora of spam threads lately? Sometimes, they take up the overwhelming majority of threads in the "Recent Posts" section. I don't expect the mods to be able to handle them all....it's gotten that bad. So, is there anything that can be done on your end? Any consideration would be appreciated.
Thanks. |

It has been a few weeks now, where there have been a minimum of 30, when I wake up & log on. And I stopped counting & I also stopped reporting them all.
Then I realized there were at least 42 & again I stopped counting... but stopped reporting entirely. Then I lost interest in reading threads & then didn't respond to posts. Now, that all the spam threads have gotten worst... with more hours of them...(afternoon here) I stopped messaging & I am loosing the desire to post. Just not enjoying the site with all the distraction of spam threads. Help..2 more just popped up. |

some other Sites keep Newbies from posting in the Forums for several days! They can use the Mailing part, though,so,for a Spammer,a situation like that, where he has to wait until he can spam ought to definitely discourage all but the most Diehards, since,in their "Trade" time is definitely money.

The mods have enough on their plate as it is.....and cant be available 24/7. Thats why I was wondering if Admin had any solutions. I dont wanna see this turn into mod berating. They do a great job as is.

i still wanna know how they are bypassing the no more than 3 topics in an hour... It's easily possible for a single person too. Multiple accounts from multiple PC's & just copy paste jobs....nothing else. |

Moe is correct....there were at least 3 new threads in almost every category within minutes of each other with the exact same name.
(I had some time to kill, so reported all that I could...it DOES get tiring) |

these posts are definitely be created with scripts, there is a vulnerability in the site somewhere that is allowing this.
Admins one possible solution is to implement captcha for each new tipic created. ..at least that would filter out most bots. ..possibly only have this requirement for accounta less than 30 days old...sometimes automation is required on the defensive end as well in order to keep up |

I feel the same, it makes the site very unpleasant to use...it's a big part of why I'm not as active...I see this site losing many members because of this |
