I wonder how big a part of planned parenthood services that is compared to all the other healthcare that women get there

According to factcheck it's 3%.

"Planned Parenthood says only 3 percent of its total services in 2009 were abortions. The other 97 percent of services were for contraception, treatment and tests for sexually transmitted diseases, cancer screenings, and other women’s health services."

http://www.factcheck.org/2011/04/planned-parenthood/

Although the links they use for sources are no longer valid.

not to mention assistance with birth control BEFORE it escalates into the 'welfare' types of assistance people love to gripe about,,,

Planned Parenthood isn't necessary for that.

"ObamaCare covers one type of birth control per person from each of 18 FDA approved categories at no out-of-pocket cost, although some plans have exemptions. This page will tell you what kinds of birth control are covered, which health plans have exemptions, how to get free birth control under the Affordable Care Act, and how to get help even if you don’t have insurance."

"According to HealthCare.Gov Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptive methods prescribed by a woman’s doctor are covered."

"As of July 2015 all plans, except for the following, must provide at least one method from each of the 18 FDA approved birth control categories at no out-of-pocket costs:

Religious employer health plans (houses of worship dont have to provide coverage. For all other religious employers women are provided contraceptive coverage through a third party).
Grandfathered health plans (plans purchased before March 23, 2010)
Short Term health insurance
Alternative plans offered by insurers that specifically exclude some forms of birth control (each exchange is supposed to offer at least one plan that doesnt provide coverage for controversial contraception)."

I just wonder what they're going to do with the money they "save" by not funding planned parenthood.
Lower taxes? Hahahahaha!

Actually they are. Texas has 7 Propositions being voted on now.
Main one that I like is the reduction of Home owners property taxes and raising the homestead exemption from 15k to 25k.
Good to live where conservatism works. drinker

Texas cuts off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood.

That doesn't affect their abortions - only womens' health care.

not really, you have obarrycare...

Many of the patients have Medicaid and not many doctors accept Medicaid.

Also, some people don't have insurance because they're "too rich" for Medicaid" and "too poor" for Obamacare - esp. in the states that didn't expand their Medicaid. PP uses a sliding fee scale for those folks.

everyone is supposed to have obarrycare, it's the law, remember? you get fined if you don't...

and if that many doctors don't accept medicaid, why is it still around?

Planned Parenthood is a thing of the past, no real need for it nowadays...

Even though it's the law, many people are stuck in the middle.

Why is Medicaid still around? To help the poor, elderly and disabled.

Not really.
There are still many other sources for woman's healthcare in Texas.

Not to mention other practices that still perform abortion.

All that really happened, was that
Planned Abortionhood got smacked for committing fraudulent practices.

In my state, there are 13 Planned Parenthoods and only one of those does abortions.

My state investigated PP and found nothing illegal going on. The same thing happened in six other states.

Medicare is for the elderly and disabled.

Medicaid is for the poor which includes the poor elderly and the poor disabled. (Said it more accurately.)

msharmony,

The 3% is the money maker. 3 out of 100 women go there for abortions, at a min. of $350.00 each, CASH, that is a lot more money than a PAP smear or Depo. shot. If you multiply that by the 2014 number of abortions, that is a lot of CASH from poor women.
* more like.. making money off the poor & desperate women, who almost always are mother's already.. than a charity..isn't it. slaphead *

Planned Parenthood- crimes/atrocities w/the body parts & black market, makes them a lot MORE money than the abortion, or exam or contraptions.

The state & the government does NOT pay for abortions, & has not since approx 1980. So no welfare or ObamaCare is.

The outcry over 'women's health care' in this, is the Dems saying, 'don't punish Planned Parenthood for their crimes/atrocities, they are our friends'
* Anyone can look it up who is friends & relatives with who in all this*

But ANYONE or AGENCY that receives ANY money from the State or Government, MUST ' corporate/be lawful '
(hopefully/ideally).

So yes, Planned Parenthood will loose a sh@t load of money, legally & illegally from everyone.

* Side note: funny/sad, how no one or few people wanted to or was will willing to post on the original Planned Parenthood thread w/the & crimes/atrocities (no, it was not one of mine). But ... talk about cutting funding....& here they are. Ugh, welcome to the degradation of Merica'"
