thinking about a conversation I had with my son on way home from school
he had to stay after to make up a spanish test he missed last friday we had an appointment at hospital with heart specialists for an ultra sound of his heart. Doc heard a heart murmer and wanted to take a look at it. His older brother also has one and so does me ex so it must run on his side of family. Turns out to be very mild which I am thankful for He is 15 and this is his first year in new school and his first year in a parochial high school anyhow today on way home in car he says " ma ya know that christians are not supposed to get divorced and its a sin" "yes honey I am aware of that but some will state that in cases of abuse or neglect there may be times when it is necessary" " ma ya know divorce is supposed to be hard on kids ..ya know traumatic" " yes a lot of studies tend to show that babe" " ya but I was thinking...that isn't really true for me" " what do you mean? our lifestyle did change somewhat didn't it? We moved from the big house with lots of stuff to a small apartment and had to learn to do without a time or two" " ya but I am still with you and not with dad..even when we lived together he was hardly around anyhow and it would have just ended up with me and you most of time " " well...ya know my folks divorced when I was five and I asked my ma once why and she said sometimes...one good parent is better than two bad or two that are bad together" " my good parent is you..you should have left a lot sooner ma" |
