Presence of The Lamb White soft wooly faced, graceful, gentle lamb in my arms, I can feel your heart's worth pulsing, To me ye become a gentle caring pillowy presence rustling, kicking, trying to break free and run, In your infancy like that of a frightened bird-ling caught entwined in it's nest left hungry, convulsing, Ye cry out to me, bleating, staring into my eyes, looking at me as if life's final hour had just begun, Onward now to safety with thee freely nestled here, restive in the oncoming tide of your submissions, I shall look after ye and guard ye from wolves of ungracious kind, those hiding there in the dark unknown, And through the deep woods and against the winds howling, breaking silence eerily like ghostly apparitions, We cross - o'er the dark day, weaving in and out of valleys and open fields - to a new safety and your home. That brought tears to my eyes. It reminds me once when a dying man locked eyes with me, a stranger; whilst his family and friends surrounded him.
It overwhelmed me and I gracefully smiled at him. He calmed and then closed his eyes, forever. This writing, for me, is that moment. It also evokes some of my own personal fears. It is stunning! Bravo!!! ![]() |
