Dallas pimp gets 22 years in prison for trafficking Mesquite teen

A Dallas pimp was sentenced to more than 22 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to sex trafficking of a minor in February in a Louisiana court.

Taurean Jackson, 26, was sentenced Wednesday to 270 months in prison plus 10 years of supervised release for trafficking a 16-year-old girl from Dallas to New Orleans. Jackson was also ordered to register as a sex offender and pay $1,750 in restitution.

Jackson, known as "Marvelous Rich," was arrested in a Louisiana hotel in 2013 by undercover officers with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department after they responded to an online ad.

According to court documents, Jackson used the online advertisement to arrange sexual encounters with the victim and another woman throughout Texas and Louisiana.

The woman, 24-year-old Andrea Birdow of Sherman, was also sentenced this month to time served plus one year of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiring with Jackson to sell the teen for sex.

Jackson, who created a Dallas radio program called Cheap Hoes Gotta Go and operated Star City Vixens, an escort agency serving as a front for prostitution, recruited Birdow in 2012.

The pair met the 16-year-old victim in Dallas and used a video uploaded to YouTube that showed the "purportedly glamorous life of a prostitute" to recruit her. The video showed them in a limousine "drinking champagne, and eating a heaping plate of nachos."

Records show Jackson beat the victim with an extension cord and threatened her if she tried to leave him. He also beat, choked and burned Birdow with lit cigarettes to control her, authorities say.

The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative aimed at combating child exploitation and abuse.
