in my opinion they should not be HARD work. but you still have to work at them. and every one argues. it just shouldn't be all the time. i have never found one that was all fun and happy. with out ta little bad you lose respect for the good

never argue or disagree be almost impossible in a long term committed relationship but most couples that truly love each other weather these storms.

I know of four couples that are in my family that have all been married now over 20 years. Do they have perfect marriages? of course not but there is an understanding that they are in this for the long haul, they communicate with each other, they stick with it

Otherwise people wouldn't value them.
There aren't really any socially reinforced rituals or symbols celebrating dating, relationships, betrothal.
People have to make relationships harder than they are otherwise they wouldn't feel special and unique.
