"Land of the Rising Spud." Haven't heard that one before. Hey, it ain't just taters, y'know. We got blueberries 'n' lobstahs, too.
Anyway, this state is huge, or at least it's tough to get anywhere from anywhere, particularly if you live on one of the peninsulas, like I do. Unless you can hop in the boat and motor on over to an adjacent town, you gotta drive north to find Rt. 1 or another major road, and then go wherever you needed/wanted to go. "You can't get theah from heah." I think Augusta is part of Central Maine. I usually only go there when I have to go to Togus. Can't recall the last time I went to L-A. (Not to be confused with L.A. [where Hollyweird is] or LA [where N.O. is].) Bumped the topic up, anyway. |

"Spud" is probably easier to rhyme something with than "potato" or "potatoes." (Thinking of Martin Mull's song "Normal," with the line about "just some lettuce and tomatoes."). For that matter, it ain't easy to rhyme anything with "blueberries" or "lobster," either. |
