Trey Gowdy Says He May Call On a RecalcitrantJohn Kerry To Testify About Hillarys Emails

South Carolina U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy said Sunday on Face the Nation he may by forced to call on a recalcitrant Secretary of State John Kerry to testify about Hillary Clintons emails.

Gowdy, who chairs the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said he has met privately with Kerrys chief of staff and that their next interaction will be in a public setting.

If I dont get satisfaction from that public interaction with his chief of staff, the next person to come explain to Congress why he has been so recalcitrant to turn over documents will be the secretary himself, said Gowdy.

I want to get this investigation over with and [Kerry] is the only thing standing between me and a completed investigation, he continued.

It was revealed earlier this week that Clinton failed to provide the State Department with 15 Libya-related emails sent between her and her longtime friend, Sidney Blumenthal. That revelation undermined Clintons claim that she gave all of her official emails 55,000 pages worth to the State Department in December.

But Gowdy says Kerry has stonewalled his investigation by refusing to turn over all the documents he needs.

They havent given us emails for nine of the 10 senior aides that [Clinton] had, Gowdy said of the State Department. Its been over a year, and we dont have a single scrap of paper from nine of the 10.

The State Department indicated again Friday that it has no plans to get to the bottom of Clintons private email arrangement. State Department spokesman John Kirby admitted that the agency does not know just how many other work-related emails Clinton failed to turn over, but he said that the agency has no plans to find out.

Gowdy said that Clinton will appear before the committee just as soon as the Department of State decides to give me the documents that I need to have a constructive conversation with her.

So Congress has waited a YEAR for documents? Haven't these idiots heard of subpeona powers? CONTEMPT of Congress charges? Obstruction charges? You can't be THAT serious about getting these documents when you refuse to throw people in jail for phucking around and acting as if the laws of the land don't apply to them.

This BS has gone on for decades. One party gets power, and attempts to expose the others corrupt behavior. Calls of 'partisan attack' 'mudslinging' 'right/left wing conspiracy' become the clarion call of those being investigated, and the shredding machines go into overdrive.

Then one day, a semi truck full of documents gets delivered. Usually on the day where some crisis takes place that will capture the 24 hour news cycle for the next week. The documents are a collection of flotsam that Congressman Fussmuckers' staff have thrown together over the last year, and were careful to verify contained no documents whatsoever regarding the topic that is being investigated. We'll be able to see how he lobbied tirelessly for National Quilting Bee Day, and how he took endless pictures with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, special needs kids, and veterans. We'll see his draft speeches on government waste, and how we can solve inner city crime by putting up more basketball nets.

In the end, Congressman Fussmucker serves the minimum number of years to qualify for endless benefits and perks, and resigns mid-term so he can 'spend more time with my loving family'. He then goes to work on the board of some company who benefitted from his voting record, and he never testifies to Congress.

You are so right. Their decisions are determined by money, for themselves. We're lucky to have those like Trey Gowdy. He takes his job very serious.
