What is strange about that? Culturally and historically, at least in Western countries, taking the husband's last name is the norm. Anything other than that would be strange and suspect.

I changed my last name for my first marriage {my practice 9 months} then took my maiden name back and when I remarried I hyphenated it because of my college degrees and my notary public was listed with my maiden name.

A co-worker named Jim Dorothy was engaged to a young lady named Dorothy ______ something; so her name would have become Mrs. Dorothy Dorothy...so Jim & Dorothy decided to keep her maiden name and hyphenate it!
Pissed his family off - upset her parents and so Jim just had his named changed to her last name since there were so many pissed off people and her check writing was a issue too!

I have kept my husbands name for over 30 years now, my daughters and DIL's have hyphenated their names. I honestly never thought about it. I guess I am pretty traditional and when I get married again I will take his name...
