Well, it seems most of John Dobson's scopes seem to be based on a Newtonian configuration.
Usually, a large concave mirror at the base of a tube that reflects the light back to a focal-point ahead of a prism which in turn has its own lens eye-piece. Is this more-or-less what You've got, Moe ? |

Is this more-or-less what You've got, Moe ? yes, he designed the configuration to gather the most light, back in the 60's... more or less, a minor upgrade to the Newtonian... it's what most backyard astronomers use... |

Well it is still daylight here so will have to check it out later Does the Sun even set this time of year in Alaska ? Yes it is does and since I am close to Anchorage it is setting pretty fast now Sunset around 930 or 10 and rises around 6 am. We are loosing about 5 minutes a day I think is what I read recently.. Up north it is still brighter for longer in the evening and it is still rapidly setting now. In December with our shortest day I will have about 5 hours of daylight... thank you for asking |
