I really do not know anyone who feels that way. Sounds like some kinda media hype. When what they do is illegal this is just not a good place for them unless they are wanting to Westernize.

Obviously we have to allow religious freedom and a certain amount of respect for another culture. But the practices of the religion or culture cannot break civil laws here....even Christian

that is a concept many Muslims will be challenged to adapt to, and I think it is something we need to make VERY clear to immigrants.

Us adapting to them in the form of tolerance within the law is fine by me....

I find it hard to believe that a creator god would make a woman and put her on earth to give men something to abuse and murder.

Granted and certainly this heinous behavior shouldn't be done to any HUMAN; and yet we seem to 'PICK AT' other beliefs and faith like they are the 'end all - be all' of those extreme human actions! When we have numerous records of 'Domestic Violence' being done to all faiths and race of women right here in the good ole USA...and rarely if any of them are of the MUSLIM FAITH.

And I still say; we find the actions of a few heinous humanity printed up and verbally fed to our reading & listening daily life and just 'apply that broad paint brush of A$$umptions' that ALL MUSLIMS behave in that manner...and it's just simply not true!

Very good points. One would think that immigrants would get some kind of screening/training ... something ... that would point out cultural differences that violate local law. No US citizen knows all the laws but are generally raised to understand the general rules and limits.

I saw another article yesterday of "honor killings". Sad story.

Oddly, we Americans seem to take our foreigners coming into our great nation for granted: ie...the simplest things like appliances can rapidly become a hazard for those foreigners!
Like: exchange students - foreign students coming into our colleges - families re-acclimated here as refugees...being placed into a fully furnished apartment or home and just left to figure all those electrical & toilet functions out all on their own!!!

It doesn't take a lot of imagination to think about the horrors that a improperly loaded washing machine or dishwasher will do to a home if the humans don't understand the proper use & what quantity of washing solution --- and don't even ask about that TOILET!!!
