How many of you all have Parent Radar? You know that funny feeling you get when you know something is up with your kid? Drives my son Crazy. I talk to him today and he asks Mom how do you always know?

I think this parent radar you have is something that can be developed when there is a good parent-child relationship...instinct coupled with empathy.

Experience, intuition, age and close parent-child relationship are the factors that make parents 'soothsayers' lol!. We knew what they were up to because we 've been through it all before they uttered the first sound at birth

Yes, I know when one of my kids are troubled and about half of my grandkids... I recently knew one of my grandchild was troubled... After I tracked her down.
She was like "amma" I so needed to hear your voice and preceded to cry since she just broke up with her BF, even though it was the right move still hurt her..

I love that connection I have with my kids and grandkids it is priceless

how do we always know
well we are like our own
parents they knew

as our parents would
say things what we shouldnt
be doing
and we end up doing and saying
the same thing to our own kids

Suprise!!!!!!laugh

LOL I used to know when my kids were up to something because I just had to say what was I up to at that age; such a little hellion I was. I am glad mine were not as bad. I have a couple of real smart Grandson's I think are going to give their parents a real run for their money. Daddy has already figured out they tell stuff. But of course we have our secrets occasionally. lol

EXACTLY --- that deep in your gut and heart that there is just something wrong and you son needs you 'RIGHT NOW'; Ya, I've had that happen twice --- nearly knocked me to my knees!

1st time; my son was going out to a party - at a location that neither my husband nor I felt comfortable about and expressed our concern! Yet, he was pretty responsible and had his driver license and never had had any problems in the past! Right before 1:AM, I woke up out of a solid deep sleep thinking I'd heard him call my name --- rushed into his room and he wasn't there --- woke my husband and told him 'something's gone wrong & I know it'!!!

We got our truck and headed out towards where the party was supposed to be --- about a mile from the party we see some young people standing around a figure laying in the dirt road --- it was my SON! He'd been jumped by some meth heads at the party and they beat him up with some type of club(s)...he'd probably bled out if we hadn't arrived when we did!
Those other kids were just too drunk & messed up to help him; Oh, they were upset and sobbing and carrying on but none of them were cognitive enough to phone 911 or call us!

Not a night that I would want any parent to endure!
But yes, PacificStar --- my son has a direct link to my 'MOMMY EAR' and probably always will.

Yea I had a couple of those kind of deals.

Generally I did not go run after mine but I knew when one called and said he was the new (youngest) Supervisor for Atlanta UPS I better drop by the local watering hole. The guys he "beat out" were more than glad to buy drinks and hope he would mess up and try to drive home. He woke up the next morning with a whopping headache and didn't say a word but I got flowers delivered on payday.

Yes indeed...that inner mommy ear!

My son's 2nd time was working rodeo stock! And he got penned in a chute trying to help get the bull rider ready to release the gate; kid panicked and reached up and grabbed my son by his shoulders - just bulldogged him right into the chute along with the bull! I knew he was on the way to the ER via the ambulance before they'd even called me!

Thankfully that's been the only 2 life threatening events and I don't need anymore! noway Head full of gray hair now! LOL
