Donald Trump is finally taking the plunge.

The real estate mogul and TV reality star launched his presidential campaign Tuesday, ending more than two decades of persistent flirtation with the idea of running for the Oval Office.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again," Trump told the crowd, in a lengthy and meandering speech that hit on his signature issues like currency manipulation from China and job creation, as well as taking shots at the president and his competitors on the Republican side.

"Sadly the American dream is dead," Trump said at the end of his speech, promising to bring it back to life with his run.

Just over four years after he came closer than ever to launching a campaign before bowing out, Trump made his announcement at the lavish Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York, laying out a vision to match his incoming campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

The 68-story tower venue Trump used Tuesday is more than just the backdrop to Trump's presidential announcement, instead becoming a physical embodiment of what Trump is bringing to the table and the challenges he'll face as he formally enters politics.

Trump has already billed himself as the "most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far," pointing out even that he owns a "Gucci store that's worth more than Romney."

That Gucci store won't be far as Trump makes his announcement -- it's located in the lobby of the Trump Tower.

But Trump isn't likely to try and shy away from the out-of-reach luxury and opulence that makes up his day-to-day lifestyle.

Instead, he'll flaunt his wealth and success in business as a centerpiece of his presidential platform. And on Tuesday he will disclose his financial assets, trumpeting a whopping $9 billion net worth, according to the Washington Post. Trump's net worth was previously estimated at roughly $4 billion.

The Trump Tower certainly won't disappoint in embodying that astronomical financial success, but the structure that was also home to the famous boardroom featured in "The Apprentice" television shows will also crystallize the challenge Trump faces as he looks to win over voters.

Many Americans now view him primarily as a reality TV star after 14 seasons of his "Apprentice" series, and his numerous flirtations with a presidential run -- first in 1987, then 1999 and again in 2004 and most recently in 2011 -- have left voters eye-rolling as he prompted yet another round of will-he or won't-he speculation.

He and his aides remain confident, though, that voters will take Trump seriously after he has now made his intentions clear and announces he's running.

"We can change that dynamic in 15 seconds by Mr. Trump sending out a press release saying he's running for president," Trump's top political adviser Corey Lewandowski said. "Mr. Trump's single biggest detriment is that people don't think he's going to run."
But over the past several months, Trump has ramped up his political activity, making key staff hires in the early states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina -- including the political strategist who drove former Sen. Rick Santorum to a surprise victory in the Iowa caucus in 2012.

And even as he becomes the 12th candidate to throw his hat into a ring that will become even more crowded before the first televised debate in August, Trump could find himself grinning on Fox News along with the rest of the top 10 candidates who made the cut.
He tied for 10th place with 3% in the latest CNN/ORC poll earlier this month and earned 4% in both the most recent Fox News and Washington Post/ABC News polls -- coming in 10th and tied for ninth, respectively.

That puts Trump right in line with would-be-rivals like Santorum, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former New York Gov. George Pataki -- and above hopefuls like Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Trump will look to escape that grouping as he challenges conventional political notions of nominating a presidential candidate who's held elected office, instead calling for an end to the politics he says are heavy on talk and light on action.

Trump is no stranger to either, though.

He famously fanned the flames of the "birther" movement and today takes credit for President Barack Obama's decision to release his birth certificate -- which Trump said this year at CPAC hasn't completely quelled his concerns.

And he won't mince words when it comes to his GOP foes, either. And he may take the opportunity to draw a contrast with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who formally announced his candidacy just a day before Trump's announcement.

Trump said earlier this year in Iowa: "The last thing we need is another Bush."

Honestly everyone here knows I am a huge Bush family supporter and I do like Jeb but we need someone who hasn't held elected office. We need a businessman and one of the most savvy and ruthless ones in the world.

Donald Trump has a lot to lose, he wouldn't risk it all to run for President if he didn't have a shot.

Trump 2016!

I am far from smart when it comes to politics...but I kinda like the thought of Trump for President...maybe he will fire all the morons that are the ones that screwed up this beautiful country...just from what I have seen...all the presidents have alot of good ideas and intent...its the rest of them that blow it...just my opinion...lol:wink:

Your dead on right. Watch his speech right here. We don't need another elected official or an official controlled by the lobbyists and every Congressman and Senator in the race including Rand Paul are controlled by the lobbyists.

No on will mess with us if Trump becomes President.

Trump is scary! He may actually do a good job but ... what an ego!

We are having ego problems with the current president.

Yeah, his ego is a deal breaker for me...That and the comb over...

He doesn't have an ego, he has a no BS attitude and that's what we need!

If one were to "follow the money",
The majority of financial contributions Trump has made politically, have been to the democrats.

Forrest Trump is calling himself a what?

Actually it's been about 50-50. He was a registered Independent for years. I think he could bring Congress together and reach across the aisles.

2016 is gearing up to be a bigger joke than any election year to date slaphead

Elect a Bush and we go back to Iraq yet again. The Bush family has a hard-on for Iraq because of their ties to the House of Saud (the funders of 9/11)!

Elect a Clinton and we're plagued by more scandal, lies, and surrendering yet more if not all of our sovereignty and independence to the UN and its Tri-lateral commission, the World Bank, and the CFR

Elect a Graham and it's WWIII

Santorum, Huckabee, Cruz, Rubio, or any of the other "Religious Right" and we'll just be sacrificing more personal freedom for another form of control.

Trump would only prove what a joke our electorial system really is!

I think, HOPE, everyone has had enough of the Demoncraps and Repulsicons!

When you look at the voting results, that^^ might not be as ridiculous as it sounds...Roughly half of the registered voters don't vote and then there are those who don't even bother to register...Kinda scary, isn't it...Especially when the majority biotches about the outcome...Wonder how much "hope and change" would actually happen if every eligible voter actually practiced what THEY preach...

Question...If the impossible did happen and no one voted, would the sitting Vice President become the new President?...scared

8 of the Sleaziest Things Donald Trump Has Said
By Rolling Stone June 16, 2015

**********see link for the entire article;

From denying global warming to discussing his relationship with "the blacks," Trump has said many shocking things over the years
Like it or not, we can't ignore Donald Trump the presidential candidate. So here's a look back at some of his most telling views to give us a taste of what we're in for.

1. He's an Obama birther.

We have Trump largely to thank for President Obama's birth certificate being such a major theme during the 2012 election cycle. Trump launched a multi-week "investigation" into the matter, concluding that he still had "real doubts" about Obama's place of birth, thus riling up the far-right wing of the Republican party.

To be fair, Trump's birtherism isn't entirely partisan: He also questions whether Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada to an American mother, should be allowed to run for president.

2. He thinks global warming is a sham because ice exists.

"This very expensive GLOBAL WARMING ******** has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps, and our GW scientists are stuck in ice," Trump tweeted early last year, referencing a crew of researchers whose ship had recently been trapped in Antarctic ice.

In a similar vein, he seems to have a weird beef with windmills, calling them "disgusting" and "horrible" in 2012.

3. He's team Jenny McCarthy when it comes to vaccines and autism.

Credit where it's due: Trump does say he's "a total believer" in children getting vaccines, on a modified schedule. However, he also says "massive inoculations" have driven the nation's autism rate to "a level that it's never been."

4. "I have a great relationship with the blacks."

That is a real thing Donald Trump once said.

5. About that relationship with black people

In a 1991 book, one of Trump's former colleagues recalled him saying, "Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are little short guys that wear yarmulkes every day." (Trump called the things written about him in the book "probably true.")

6. He's sexist as hell.

When he's not making high-dollar business deals or launching quixotic bids for the presidency, Trump spends time evaluating contestants for the Miss USA pageant, which he owns. In her 2009 book, former contestant Carrie Prejean wrote of the "humiliating" exercise of being trotted out in front of Trump so he could weed out the women he found insufficiently attractive. "Some of the girls were sobbing backstage after [Trump] left," she wrote. "t was as though we had been stripped bare."

And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Trump's sexist practices and comments. This is the man who, in 2000, reportedly said, "I think the only difference between me and the other candidates is that I'm more honest and my women are more beautiful."

7. He fancies himself a savior of the poor.

Trump said recently that "the people that like me best are poor people and middle-income people. . . The rich people don't like me."

"I would save the middle class," he said. "I know what to do. Our jobs are all being taken out of our country."

8. He once compared gay people to golf clubs.

Speaking about same-sex marriage in 2011, Trump told The New York Times, "It's like in golf. . . A lot of people - I don't want this to sound trivial - but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive."

"It's weird," he went on. "You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can't sink three-footers anymore. And I hate it. I am a traditionalist."

But don't worry! He has "many fabulous friends who happen to be gay," he says.

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/8-of-the-sleaziest-things-donald-trump-has-said-20150616#ixzz3dL0SMekG

And that wipes out the women voters - the black votes - the gay vote - the Jewish vote - impoverished voters and mothers that have children with Autism; he's a loud mouth with zero mental filters!

One thing about this 'BUFFOON' and his mantra ~~~ he's going to be the distraction that will allow all the other 'WANNA-BE's' to focus on his persona like 'shark to chum' and save the TEAM DEMS vs TEAM GOP the thrashing that they'd be doing to each other!

At least The Donald might pretend to have one even if it was a bad one, and he might even consult with our generals and ambassadors unlike our current idiot king who ignores any advice they offer in his arrogance

But Trump will NEVER even be a contender! It's just more camera time and an ego boost for Trump to even play in the game

Mexico, Latinos Lash Out At Real Estate Mogul Donald Trump's Trashing Of Mexicans And Immigrants

The government of Mexico and a number of Latino leaders wasted no time in lashing out against billionaire Donald Trump‘s accusation that Mexico is sending drugs, criminals and rapists to the U.S. and his promise to build a “great, great wall” on the U.S.-Mexico border. After Trump entered the Presidential race on Tuesday with a 45-minute kick-off at the Trump Tower in New York City, Mexico’s Minister of Government Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong called his diatribe against Mexico “biased and absurd.”
Osorio Chong, who is in charge of Mexico’s internal security, said that the real estate billionaire ignores the contributions of immigrants to the U.S. “There is no doubt that the men and women of Mexico who are [living] in the U.S.… help the development of the U.S.,” Osorio Chong said, according to media reports. He added that Trump is trying to get media attention.

Trump’s wild accusations were also lambasted by a number of Latinos in the U.S. “It appears Mr. Trump is having a difficult time separating fact from fiction. Developing a sound foreign policy with the United States’ most important trade partner and neighbor is not a reality TV show,” Arturo Vargas, Executive Director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), said via email. Trump hosts the NBC reality show “The Apprentice.”

Pablo Manriquez, Hispanic Media Director of the Democratic National Committee, told me that “Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant saber rattling is nothing new. In fact, it’s just the same old Latino outreach playbook the GOP turns to every election, just with less packaging and finish.”

Trump’s “utter disrespect for Mexicans and immigrants” is not unique in the Republican field, Manriquez insisted. “Sadly, it’s just an unvarnished look at their anti-immigrant policies,” he said, referring to several other want-to-be Republican candidates who have attacked Mexico and immigrants with similar enmity.

“You’d think the GOP would have learned by now,” Manriquez opined.

In his speech, which received wide media coverage both in the U.S. and abroad, Trump promised that if he is elected president he will build a wall along the southern border and that Mexico would pay for it. “I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border and I will have Mexico pay for that wall, mark my words,” Trump said.

Trump also accused Mexico of sending “not the right people” to the U.S. “[Mexico] are sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs, and bringing crime, and their rapists,” he said.

“The US has become a dumping ground for everyone else’s problems,” Trump added.

Is not the first time Trump has expressed his dislike for Mexico. In February, he criticized the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for awarding several Oscars, including Best Picture, to Birdman’s director Alejandro Iñárritu, a Mexican citizen, who he accused of “walking away with all the gold.” Then in March, Trump pledged in his Twitter account that Mexico will never host the Miss Universe pageant, which he co-owns with NBC.

Trump has expressed a desire to run for president since the 1980s, but Tuesday’s announcement is the first time he has actually made it official. He is considered to have a scant chance of winning the Republican nomination. However, out of sixteen Republicans who have entered or are expected to enter the race, four are currently less popular than him, according to a combination of polls tracked regularly by the Huffington Post.

Immigration, and by extension Mexico, the country that accounts for nearly 6 million of the 11.2 unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. according to the Pew Research Center, has become a polarizing issue for the 2016 presidential campaigns because of the Latino vote, which is seen as key to winning the White House.

With a net worth estimated at $4.1 billion, Trump is currently ranked #431 richest person in the world, according to Forbes real-time billionaire ranking.

'The US has become a dumping ground for everyone else's problems,' Trump added

Price tag for 700 miles of border fencing: high and hard to pin down
Friday Jun 21, 2013 9:20 AM
A plan for 700 more miles of fencing along the southwest U.S. border — part of a immigration-bill deal forged in the Senate this week — would come with a mammoth and unpredictable price tag, judging by past efforts.

The original legislation crafted by the bipartisan Gang of Eight set aside $1.5 billion for fencing — and that was before a deal was struck with Republican senators to add more to the massive border security and fencing proposal. So how much would a new bigger border fence cost?

Customs and Border Protection spent $2.4 billion between 2006 and 2009 to complete 670 miles of border fence, and the vast majority of that was single-layer — one line of fencing designed to keep either pedestrians or vehicles from crossing into the United States, according to a Government Accountability Office report.

The new plan calls for a double-layer fence — two parallel barriers on either side of a corridor manned by Border Patrol — that would require more land acquisition, more supplies and more labor to build.

There is no firm cost for the fence outlined in the "border surge" agreement announced Thursday, and the price of previous fence construction has varied wildly.

A 2009 analysis by the GAO found that the cost of pedestrian fencing ranged between $400,000 and $15 million per mile with an average of $3.9 million a mile. The price of less expensive vehicle fencing ran anywhere from $200,000 to $1.8 million a mile, for an average of $1 million a mile.

That same year, Customs and Border Protection set aside $58 million to build a 3.5 mile stretch of fence along "difficult terrain" in San Diego,
according to the GAO, an investigative arm of Congress.

"The per mile costs to build the fencing varied considerably because of the type of fencing, topography, materials used, land acquisition costs, and labor costs, among other things," the office's report said.

Trump would be amazing at foreign policy. He is a fighter and he doesn't take no for any answer. We don't need another politician in the White House. We need someone who is tough and savvy.

He plans on recruiting back some of the top Generals we have had that Obama pushed out. He stated he will find another General Patton and General MacArthur. He also has a good idea on beating ISIS without sending troops into Syria.

He is also a constitutionalist, so I am surprised your not all for him.
