Topic: Where did Humans come from? | |

Darwin was an abolitionist whose scientific work refuted the commonly held racist beliefs of his time and opposed already existing eugenic concepts. It is, in fact, evolution that overturned the widely held belief in the divine superiority of the "white race" from: http://www.rationalrevolution.net/articles/darwin_nazism.htm |

...have you ever watched the film lucy? It goes on to mention that humans use 10% of their overall brain capacity and all other animals barely reach 3%
Well that movie is clearly is not a reliable source of information. The 10% myth is rooted in a basic misunderstanding of brain function. Humans are using 100% of their brains! Different areas serve different purposes, and different types of cells in the brain serve different purposes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_percent_of_the_brain_myth |

I do believe that we could use more of our brains than we do. Some can use theirs better, more effectively or efficiently and maybe this is a learned behaviour or an applied one. The fact remains that we all have the same size brain to a degree but the vast differences in knowledge vary massively. Average IQ in America is 75. In UK its 100 and when I did an online test I achieved 132 back when I was 15. Intelligence seems to vary drastically between humans although their brain sizes are the same. This makes me believe that it is possible to advance beyond that of the most intelligent minds of today and to have the average person have a mind that is beyond that of today's we could build a better world much faster, much more efficiently. We are holding ourselves back but to be fair, who'd have ever known we'd have gotten this far? |

Some people find the concept of human evolution troubling because it seems to conflict with their religious and other traditional beliefs about how people and this world came to be.
However, evidence of biological Human Evolution from some species of primates inhabiting east Africa cannot be easily denied or disapproved by any logical mind. Some facts which point to evolution over creation are: 1. Similarity in physical features and behavioral traits between chimps and humans. Group behavior among chimps strongly resembles that of humans. 2. About 98.5 % similarities in the DNA sequence between that of chimps and humans. 3. Fossils of earliest humans, so called Australopithecines, dated between 6 million and 2 million years by radio-carbon technique, have been all excavated in Africa. 4. Based on shapes of bones, there have been 12 to 19 species of early humans, as found from the fossils and all but one, have left no descendants. 5. Genetic mutation is a known natural phenomenon which can change the ability of an organism to survive and reproduce. Through intra-breeding, new traits are passed on to the descendents. The traits which help the population to survive the changes in the environment are known as adaptive changes. This is a continuous phenomenon and cannot be stopped. Evolution of humans is based on this biological phenomenon. 6. Experiments based on Mitochondrial DNA give evidence pointing to east Africa as the origin of modern humans. 7. Archeologists and paleoanthropologists have traced back the origin of culture and languages of modern humans to central east Africa. Semitic languages like the old Hebrew, Arabic and the Amharic language have a lot in common as they have originated from the Afro-Asiatic family of languages. Amharic is still the official language of Ethiopia. This proves civilization emerged from this region in the pre-historic days. Now, all the above evidences are available to the world. Anyone, who wishes to convince himself can read further from reliable sources and form his own opinions. I would love to get evidences from the other side and weigh them against mine. Give truth a chance to survive and science never lies. It is some handful of fraudulent scientists and archeologists who have lied to the word for cheap popularity. However, all such lies have been uncovered with the passage of time. |

This is all too much for me. I thought we evolved from a slimy slug like thing, that crawled out of a stagnant pond. Thinking about that, there are some who haven't evolved beyond that yet, but maybe that's for another thread. Human beings only think they are at the top of the food change. It doesn't necessarily make them so. Dolphins have greater intelligence than us, for instance, but they have developed to suit their environment. It seems to me that the human race has done it the other way round. We have developed our environment to suit us.!!

Are Dolphins good to eat? Was served as fish curry in a restaurant - years ago tasted like human flesh, never went back 4. Based on shapes of bones, there have been 12 to 19 species of early humans, as found from the fossils and all but one, have left no descendants. We ate them?? All of the remaining 18 species? What makes us so sure? If the dolphin could survive the whales If the tigers could elude the lions If the clumsy owls, the eagles surely some of the species survived? Makes one question the theory (quote from WIki) H. erectus arrived in Eurasia approximately 1.8 million years ago, in an event considered to be the first African exodus Supporting evidence: There are many many more species of simians in Asia than in Africa - and has been so since a billion years ago. Mayr presented his conclusion at the Cold Spring Harbor Symposium in 1950,[42] and resulted in Dubois's erectus species being reclassified under the genus Homo. As part of the reclassification, Mayr included not only Sinan-thropus and Pithecan-thropus, but also Plesian-thropus, Paran-thropus, Javan-thropus, and several other genera as synonyms, arguing that all human ancestors were part of a single genus (Homo), and that "never one more than one species of man existed on the earth at any one time".[43] A "revolution in taxonomy", Mayr's single-species approach to human evolution was quickly accepted. Note: Mayr mentioned the Java man but did not mention the Peking Man - Bones found in the 1900s and dated 700,000 years ago. Was it because the skulls & bones were conveniently missing?? From Wiki The fossils of Peking Man were stored at the Union Medical College in Peking. Eye-witness accounts state that in 1941, while Beijing was under Japanese occupation, but just before the outbreak of hostilities between Japan and the Allied Forces during the Second World War, the fossils were packed into two large crates and loaded onto a US Marine vehicle bound for the port of Qinhuangdao in northern China, close to the Marine base at Camp Holcomb. From there they were to be sent by ship to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, but the fossils vanished en route May be it was because the archeologists who unearthed these discoveries were funded by Christian governments and institutions? Linking Peking man and all other species along with the African man to more than a single source 'more than one missing link' was inconvenient to this the already eroding concepts couched in their Church dichotomy. Then of course there had just been a great war and public morale was not to be shaken on the usage of the atomic bomb on what was close proximity to the 'cradle of human civilization'. Conclusion: We are at the minimum two species derived from two separate 'missing links'. Peking Man -probably the 'First' among us men And if we retrace back from the Chinese development of fireworks, it was probably the Peking Man who first tamed fire... Understandably an inconvenient fact to the US Marines who then quietly sank those crates into the ocean. Then what about the DNA?? Until now it was assumed that the human genome, or "book of life", is largely the same for everyone, save for a few spelling differences in some of the words. Instead, the findings suggest that the book contains entire sentences, paragraphs or even whole pages that are repeated any number of times... From a medical journal ...the findings mean that instead of humanity being 99.9 per cent identical, as previously believed, we are at least 10 times more different between one another than once thought -- which could explain why some people are prone to serious diseases. I realize that we all love simplification and have our own stabilizing concept on Creation but why should we buy in over-simplification?? |

We are holding ourselves back but to be fair, who'd have ever known we'd have gotten this far? >> Well to be honest I don't know where they came to that conclusion This lie has been widely circulated for decades. It is absolutely loved by the 'human potential' crowd. >> I find it believable due to most of the stuff we learn we forget or it becomes obsolete. Its trued that our brains are not perfect, and its also true that most of us are not using it as well as we could. That doesn't justify the 10% claim. Are you as physically strong as you could be? No? Does that mean you are only using 10% of your muscle? > I do believe that we could use more of our brains than we do. By what measure would we use 'more' ? And how much 'more'? You are already using your entire brain. Using it better doesn't mean 'using a larger percentage of it.' But the important thing here is: Be wary of anyone selling a book, making a movie, or giving a speech who uses this claim. Its a pretty clear indication that the person speaking is either ignorant or dishonest, and their message is not to be trusted. |

I think we came from this planet. like everything else here. Almost everything else anyway. Our DNA matches everything else.
As for how we look, watch out for social prejudices and games. One of the cultural reasons why at least SOME people shave, is because they want to PRETEND they aren't animals, like all the rest of our kin. I think it's ridiculous to claim that we ARE "separated from the rest of the animals" in any moral, or spiritual, or intellectual way, just because we drive cars and kill each other with fancier weapons. All the basic drives and all the same "sins," (if you like that religious sort of concept) are identical to all the other creatures on this orb. |

tasted like human flesh
Who made the comparison and figured this out? As this comment is from a veggie in a foreign land, i will try n explain. To begin, as a massage professional you already know how tender the flesh is, meaning the underlying fat is fluid 'ic'. This fat has a low flame point. So makes it risky for traditional cooking methods like frying in oil or grilling. For instance, it flames up even before the oil reaches a sizzling temperature. Next, slightly off topic but required background for what follows. You can visit an electric crematorium to see how fast the body is ashed. The bones however require high heat. An entire body when reduced to ashes fills just a small urn. In India, our hermits living in the open apply it all over their body to ward of insects animals. We also mix it in our incense sticks. If such incense sticks are burning, there is pleasantness but desires leave you, including the desire for food. Back to topic. There are two alternatives. One, to boil the body to soup; as was practiced in Dr. Livingstone's Africa. Here is the parallel with dolphin's. The Japanese consider dolphin soup as a delicacy. Why? As I understand from others this soup charges up the brain at many centers - like we know about brain fries. Sorry Veggie - you asked and so here it is Two, have it raw; or rather semi cooked before the meat loses it's form. The dolphin I was served in the Indian restaurant was semi-cooked & covered with curry mix. Nonetheless - a mere bite sent a different set of signals to my brain. Regarding taste - one can taste the salt in sweat and bacterial scent but clean cooked human flesh tastes like 'nothing'. Not even like water. Figure this out: If we could 'taste' it, the human body would start cannibalizing it's own body parts - wouldn't it? And next time dear Veggie before you ask for clarifications I would like to see a picture on how you look like. I already know how you taste. |

I respect your choice to not respond, if you prefer. I still don't know _who_ might have tasted human flesh in order to validate the comparison using personal experiences. As for this: Figure this out: If we could 'taste' it, the human body would
start cannibalizing it's own body parts - wouldn't it? That doesn't follow. Being able to chemically sense something doesn't require that the organism always catabolize the thing at every opportunity. |
