God is both male and female. During certain Jewish holidays, his presence is closer to us. Those times, he exists in female spiritual form.

Since God is energy, you cannot see him. You can feel him.

It€™s a very complex question. We have never seen him, nor did we ever hear his words directly.
Then why we should believe that there is God?

Some of the reasons which suggest that God exists.
1. The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today.
The Earth is located the right distance from the sun. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. The universe has not always existed. It had a start...what caused that? Scientists have no explanation for the sudden explosion of light and matter.
2. The universe operates by uniform laws of nature.
"The greatest scientists have been struck by how strange this is. There is no logical necessity for a universe that obeys rules.
Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize winner said, "Why nature is mathematical is a mystery...The fact that there are rules at all is a kind of miracle."
3. The DNA code.
In every cell of our bodies there exists a very detailed instruction code, much like a computer program. All instruction, all teaching, all training comes with intent. Someone who writes an instruction manual does so with purpose. DNA instructs the cell. DNA is a three-billion-lettered program telling the cell to act in a certain way. Why is this so amazing? One has to ask....how did this information program wind up in each human cell?
4. We know God exists.
Lewis said he remembered, "...night after night, feeling whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all of England." Lewis went on to write a book titled, "Surprised by Joy" as a result of knowing God.
5. Prophets of God.
The major world religions; Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius, Moses and Jesus all identified themselves as teachers or prophets.
6. The Inevitability of Faith
No one can endure the stress and cares of life without faith in something that cannot ultimately be proven. Atheists cannot prove there is no God. Pantheists cannot prove that everything is God. Pragmatists cannot prove that what will count for them in the future is what works for them now. Nor can agnostics prove that it is impossible to know one way or the other.
7. The Limitations of Science
Scientific method is limited to a process defined by that which is measurable and repeatable. By definition, it cannot speak to issues of ultimate origin, meaning, or morality. For such answers, science is dependent on the values and personal beliefs of those who use it.
7. The Problems of Evolution
Many scientists who believe in evolution believe also that the universe in all of its immensity and complexity did not “just happen.” Many feel compelled to acknowledge the possibility or even likelihood of an intelligent designer who provided the ingredients for life and set in motion the laws by which it developed.
8. The Evidence of Miracles
The reports of the first followers of Jesus agree that He did more than just claim to be the long-awaited Messiah. These witnesses said He won their trust by healing paralytics, walking on water, and then voluntarily dying a painful, undeserved death before rising from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-8). Most compelling was their claim that many witnesses had seen and talked to Christ after finding His tomb empty and before watching Him ascend visibly into the clouds. These witnesses didn’t have anything on earth to gain by their claims. They had no hopes of material wealth or power. Many became martyrs, claiming to the end that the long-awaited Messiah of Israel had lived among them, that He had risen from the dead to assure them of His ability to bring them to God.
9. The Details of Nature
Jesus, showed that God is great enough to care about the smallest details of our lives. He spoke of one who not only knows every move we make but also the motives and thoughts of our heart. Jesus taught that God knows the number of hairs on our head, the concerns of our heart, and even the condition of a fallen sparrow (Psalm 139; Matthew 6).
10. The Voice of Experience
The Bible says that God designs the circumstances of our lives in a way that will prompt us to look for Him (Acts 17:26). For those who do reach out for Him, the Scriptures also say that He is close enough to be found (Acts 17:27). The Bible makes it just as clear, however, that we must reach out for God on His terms rather than our own. He promises to be found, not by just anyone but by those who admit their own need and are willing to trust Him rather than themselves. Jesus promised God’s help to those who want to be right with God. He said, “If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether My teaching comes from God or whether I speak on My own” (John 7:17 NIV).

Kaustuv, I'm surprised you shared that. I thought you believed in God.

To 'IAmWhoIAm': I 'do' believe in 'God', though my 'reasons' may be 'different'!

John Chapter 1 (Bible)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God; 3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light.

9 The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. 11 He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. 12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. 15 (John bore witness to him, and cried, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, for he was before me.'") 16 And from his fulness have we all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.

Psalm 14: 1-3 (Bible)
1. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none that does good.

2. The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
to see if there are any that act wisely,
that seek after God.

3. They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt;
there is none that does good,
no, not one.

Romans Chapter 1: 18-22 (Bible):

18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.

I find that many people believe in God when it is either convenient or it is of necessity.

- Have you ever seen God yourself
Everywhere :)

- Have you ever listened to his voice
In every decision I've made :)

Thousands of people is being murdered , raped somewhere in this world

Yes people can be awefully cruel.

Imagine a girl being raped... screaming for help .. what does this God do then ? What this God has given to humanity ?

Why are you so worried about the here and now. Yes it's unfortunately the girl was raped, but the rapist will have his reward for his action. Remember, we were kicked out of Eden and separated from God. So we spend our life trying to acheive getting back to God. Where I will spend all eternity with God and I'll never have anything to fear, cry over or be sad about. God has given his self for humanity on the cross so you could live. And while we're separated from God, he never promised it would be a paradise here, plus again the woman being raped was a use of free will of the man doing the raping. Has no connection to God in that exact context.

You see God !!?? How does he look like ? He or She ? Does God has any particular gender ? You failed to answer another question , why do God fail to feed those poor people ? If this God can't feed people here, there is no guarantee that he/ she would be able to feed people in what you say heaven . Anyway, be happy with your God .

God looks like love. Gender's are irrelevant to God, as genders are for reproductive purposes. Who said it was God's job to feed people? And have these starving people asked God? Why in the world would anyone need food in Heaven? We only need food to restore the nutrients for this mortal body. In Heaven we are given a new body in likeness of God.

Philippians 3:21

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

The same people that told me to believe in a god also told me to believe in some other invisible benevolent beings: santa claus, the easter bunny, and the tooth fairy.

Later, I'm told none of them are real except one.

And that one is verifiably bonafide because there is some old compilation of nationalist stories that proves it.

People believe in a god the same reason they believe in anything - they are told to and are ostracized if they don't.

Believe in a god if you want to, don't believe in a god if you don't want to. Don't make me no nevermind. (forgive my appalachian american dialect.)

Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Buddha and Mohammad probably experienced the same super-conscious state of mind like many other after them. All have describe it as an ecstatic experience. Earlier, due to lack of awareness of the society and lower educational levels, these mystics gave different expressions to the same experience.

Abraham and Moses said they met God, Jesus who was influenced by their literature also said he was the son of God. Buddha on the other hand, who didn't know much about Abraham or Moses, explained his experienced as 'Enlightening'. Mohammad, who used to travel to Syria often and knew the stories of Abraham, Moses and Jesus, found a similar way of expressing super consciousness during meditation. He said he was directed by Angel-Gabriel ( The same angel who went to Mary to break the news about her conception of Jesus).

This became Central to the religions those people have preached and thus the concept of God evolved...a human being personified having all good qualities of humans to the power infinity..!!

Devil was personified as a human being having all bad qualities of human beings to the power infinity..!

Concepts took root over the years.

We, humans have many limitations..

1. People mostly rely on judgments of others when they find themselves in a state of uncertainty.

2. People mostly adjust their own behavior to conform to that of their group.

3. People will cause intense suffering to others rather than disobey authority.

4. People, who behave in ways that contradict their own attitudes, experience an unpleasant state of internal tension, so adjust their attitudes to be consistent with their behavior.

5. People change their attitudes to justify their own investment of effort, money, or time. Thus, they come to love what they strive for.

So, when people are confused, as to what is right and what’s not, these inherited psychologies take over unless we try to understand our own paradigms. Thus, most of us believe in God.
