Topic: Weed barrier or container gardening? | |
---|---|
As I am lounging in the sun, with my straw gently clanking the ice cubes, I'm trying to decide on a weed barrier, hoeing, or gardening by the container. I've noticed that I just might be lacking enough daylight hours with too many trees in my yard. Container gardening has never worked out so well before, either they dry out too fast or children seem to find their way to picking their favorite pea pods.
What do you do? |

I suppose I'm a bit lazy really, I love my garden but I don't like gardening, so I have a guy who shows up once a week and does it for me.
I think a garden looks nicer without pots all over the place but that's just me. |

Started 10 tomato plants in pots with the intention of transplanting them into the ground as they got bigger. But, we've had so many storms with high wind and occasional hail this spring, Ive left em in the pots.....sure makes it easy to move them to safety and they're doing pretty well so far.

Landscaping cloth. You don't need chemical weed killers like roundup that will kill your plants.

What do you do? it's still illegal here, so i find a place in the woods to grow it... that keeps the kids away too... |

I have seedlings! started peppers and tomatoes from seed in March, now they are 3 inches tall! still too early to put them outdoors. Bought a six-pak of broccoli and another of brussel sprouts... getting the dirt ready for some containers...
I have way too many peppers (like 100 of them).. so I'll be giving lots away. come on heat! |

The pepper seeds were from a green pepper that was bought at the store.. I am also trying to nuture some 'tennis ball lettuce'.. got about 10 of those leafing out. I am trying the 'potato in a bag' again - last year that yielded about 8 lbs. I like the idea of a herb garden area...and stevia... I may try that. The growing season where I live is fairly short. |
