Hi. I'm still a newbie when it comes to the 1's & 2's. I wanted to know is there any other software other than traktor, that anyone can recommend for newbies like myself?

Right now Serato is probably the most popular of the programs and comes packaged with most controllers out there. If you just want a free program to mess around with Mixxx works alright. But if you really want to learn the right way get some vinyl or at least Cd decks that way you actually have to learn the basic skills.
