Why is it that when dudes hug each other I hear extreme padding, more like punching of the back where there's bodily sounds involved? Like today some dude was greeting another dude (friend or colleague) and I jumped up when I heard someone's back literally being hit like I was overhearing a scene from Fight Club. I thought I heard bone breaking...this happens only when I see dudes together. Never when a man and a woman are together. The hug is just different, it's more gentle and the embrace is longer. It's just strange to me, I would hope a guy doesn't do that to his best friend who is a girl. Not saying the girl isn't strong, but for me, it sounds a little violent. Better not happen on a date.

Also OP I think seriously if a guy hugged me and slapped me on the back like they do one of the guys. They would have to give me a hand back up after they knocked me flat.
They should hug us a little longer and more tender we are women... I think one of the strangest hugs I have gotten on a meet and greet. The hugged me so long and hard he picked me up off the ground. I am was like whoa there big fella... |

I hugged someone once from Australia. I will never forget how warm and tender he felt. He was gorgeous, too, and our hug lingered. Sigh

Better not happen on a date. coming from someone who hung out with the boys (brother and cousins) that's their sign of affection. a lot of men don't grow up with the traditional form of affection amongst each other. it's ok to hug or be nice to a woman. but for years guys touching each other was not the accepted thing. so it's not uncommon to see them punch each other in the arm or the kind of hugs you describe. I learned from watching my brother and his friends that the hug, punch and friendly insult was a sign of brotherhood. when they shake hands or just say hi, there's not a strong bond there |

I love to hug . It is important for all humans to have close physical contact. I do not believe it has anything to do with gender. I am comfortable with my sexuality not to bothered by hugging a man, woman or child. There are many studies which demonstrate that hugging is physical and physiological in its affect on humans and animals. |
