The eclipse is well under way now. We are into the P1 phase. I see more than half the moon darkened here.

The peak is in about 1 hour 20 minutes (1158 UTC).

Anyone else out there watching?

Can't see the moon yet. Beautiful sunset here. I'm going to go down to the beach at 7.30 to see if I can see the moon from there. Just a few clouds so I'm hoping I'll see it.

Bad luck - I went out to watch a solar eclipse in England and didn't see anything but cloud. Still got that weird atmosphere with all the birds singing as they go to bed and then get up for the dawn chorus a few minutes later. Hehe

Sorry to hear you're missing the view my friends. I am so lucky for no fog in an Francisco tonight. Just occasional high clouds.

You see my profile photo now as most of the shadow is passing over the moon. In about 30 minutes we will have full eclipse.

Here is the photo I took of the full eclipse. Note that the top of the moon is brighter. That is because the moon passed through the earth's shadow towards the outer edge.

I see that some of you are enjoying these photos. I appreciate being able to present my art and interest together.

Sigh - Awesome pic Dadcat. I didn't see a thing - went out with my kids to the beach but couldn't see the moon. The kids were disappointed going "What we have to wait three whole years for the next one!" as if its forever hehe.

Had a problem with clouds where I am in Western Queensland too, managed to score a few pics worth keeping though.
Missed totality altogether because of the cloud but I think it was only around 5 or 6 minutes long this time.
Gave up and went home well before it was finished, cloud got too thick.

In New Zealand we were cloudless, so I saw it all. It was remarkable.
