Deserting wife is not an option in Saudi.
Her ID has you as spouse & you will be summoned to court before her sentence.
Daft country, with daft Draconian views ,if you ask me? Could've just bailed her out if it was a UK police station?

Interesting that there s a parallel post running in the politics forum right now: on mars & habitation

now here s the situation. you are in mars and the ratio of men to women
is 10 to 1 [less women due to radiation problems]

You have 100 men, and the 10 women; all in a huge biosphere [add a smaller one for the women, if you will]

And you also have Hillary Clinton.

Now lets say there is a law that women cannot wear makeup.
and for some reasons; one of the ladies got caught with makeup.
and she happens to be, let us say a dear.

Now you have to meet Hillary to save her from 10 somethings.
--xx--

cannot be sure that UK laws would apply; would it?

When I was married, my wife wasn't allowed to travel overseas with me, if I was working... anywhere, ever.

My exwife and I, did go on vacations overseas...
But, the middle east, was never anywhere we'd have considered a vacation destination hotspot.

Man,
Beginning to understand now why they dont have women in their jails
except under terror acts.
for a moment had thought you were her savior.
got close then moved away.

Looks like this post has created more anxiety than intended so here's a correction.

Generally if a woman is arrested; her husband (or guardian) has to come by
for her release.

And generally, the officials (within a town or city) are fairly reasonable.
One can find 7 year olds driving a car in the back alleys in small towns
and nobody bothers. A car is not much different from a camel.

So if the guy says: sorry, was all a mistake, and asks the official what should he do now; then there is no answer
The official may release the lady, but..

But just to make sure they don't have to arrest her again;
the guy may be fined; and the misdemeanor recorded on his License

Now taking the logic of guardianship further,
in a worst case scenario, (& I could be wrong here)
the guy may have to take the whips on behalf of the girl.
but it requires a court order to issue the whips.

that would require a court order.

Thought it best to bring all this to a closure.

And guys, if you thought Middle East was weird;
just check out what happens to you if you
say hi to a girl or gently hug your sweetheart on a street in Singapore.
