The festival's tradition is to sprinkle liquid and dry colours at others. Also people go to meet at other's place.
There are various aspects (history) of Holi celebration. They are mythological, socio-cultural and religious.

I personally celebrate it because holi is celebrated at a time of the year when the fields are in full bloom and people are expecting a good harvest. This gives people a good reason to rejoice, make merry and submerge themselves in the spirit of Holi.
