And a controlled test will be done, how?

turning on the headlights while at absolute zero, duh...laugh

smile2 But the very act of 'turning-on-the-headlights' would require the displacement of energy thus causing heat in absolute Zero. slaphead

So, ~186,000 miles per second X 2?

....... Or ........

Light Stands Still?

neither... speed of light is the speed of light, regardless...

but i was wondering if absolute zero slows light down, like it does everything else...

A vacuum has no temperature. The known (maximum) speed of light is described as the speed of light in a vacuum. The speed of light in a medium depends upon the density of the medium, i.e., air, water, glass, ... whatever. Some of these substances, maybe all of them, will vary by temperature also.

so you think that the vacuum of space isn't cold or hot?

My answer is that the headlights turn into brake lights.....

thats a whole other topic... brake lights a light speed? wouldn't the brakes slow you down?

Nope. The brakes would take you back to the future, so you'd be ahead of the speed of sound....happy

oh... that sounds very scientific...

It doesn't matter if headlights work at the speed of light.
If you were relying on headlights while traveling at the speed of light,
and if the headlights suddenly revealed an object in front of you,
then you wouldn't have time to avoid the object.

All I know is if You can get this DeLorean going that fast...

That car would be The Cat's Azz! shades

sure they would work. but they also wouldn't illuminate the path ahead of you

But Eric, is it like running with a garden-hose on.

Wouldn't the stream not get faster as You accelerate with it?

(For As Long As You've Got Length, That Is)

sorry but nope light travels at the speed of light.

the headlights would turn on, but if you were traveling faster than tsl then the light generated by them wouldnt spread out in front of you

And how have we been able to prove that? spock

Fri 03/13/15 03:06 PM
didn't say proven as any ftl discussion is currently un provable

but light speed is an accepted fixed number (dependent on medium)

so it extrapolates simply that light can not exceed the speed of light

So, all our controlled tests up till now have been done from what is relatively speaking a fixed platform.

What the Hell else do we have that even remotely travels at 186,000 miles per second. think
