NEVER share your personal or financial information with people you don't know. Don't share your real name, personal phone numbers, email address, home address, place of work or any other identifying information. Do not post personal contact information in your profile or username. NEVER send money to people you haven't met in person. It's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck to all of you! And Dont Send Videos,I Dont Cross Social Networks either |

Beware of blackmail with personal information. Yeah, you never know what crazies are out there. I post in forums on another site and someone found some of my personal info and shared it a while ago. They also stole pictures of mine and used them. Just tonight, someone told me they were poking through my profile/posts on this site to see if I've lied about anything. Strange people out there. |

Be wary if someone you are chatting to asks to start emailing you directly, rather than through the site.

Be wary if someone you are chatting to asks to start emailing you directly, rather than through the site. I sure do get lots of messages from young women (20-30 years difference) from different states sending me their email addys or yahoo messenger id's & the such. These have got to be scammers, etc. I usually will only send a serious message to someone close to where I live (within an hours drive), but the numbers just aren't there - very few close to me. I do make the exception to my cinnamon girl in NYC. |

A previous thread that has been locked posed this question: http://mingle2.com/topic/426755 why do supposed scammers always ask to communicate through private email? For those of you who have been communicating by private email, I offer some information to identify the location of a sender. For all electronic mail, there is what you see in your inbox and the actual 'source' file that is transmitted across the internet. How to obtain this data is unique to each service. In the source file you can find the IP address for the originating location. IP addresses are allocated worldwide, registered and documented. if you go to the website domaintools.com and enter an IP address, you will be given the registration information for the allocated address. In that you will see the location for the sender. Yahoo appears to be the choice for scammers. In my experience it is also very easy to see if someone with a yahoo address is located outside the USA. I suggest to learn more your should search this topic online. There is a lot of information about how this works and how to find out if someone you are corresponding with is outside your country. This is not foolproof but it does give you more knowledge. And knowledge is power. Play safe my friends. |
