Topic: Joe Cocker dies | |

Today, I was watching the musical "Across the Universe" and admiring the job Joe Cocker did in the show ... and then I turned on the news seconds later to hear that Joe Cocker has died of cancer.
It made me so sad. His renditions of The Beatles were so unique, his voice so powerful and rough, and the pure emotion he put into every song made him a true star. Some of his best songs can be found here ... http://ultimateclassicrock.com/joe-cocker-songs/ |

I'm afraid Joe Cocker passed me by.I was always aware of him has coming from Rotherham and listening to radio Sheffield from time to time I have heard a bit by him but I must confess without googling him "get by with a little help from my friends" is the only one that springs to mind

Another guy that headlined at Woodstock that died recently was Johnny Winter.
Can't really say that I cared much for Joe Cocker and the way that he waved his arms like a spastic when he was singing but I've only seen him perform in the Woodstock movie. BTW, there's another Cocker song on the bonus disc in the Woodstock box set that didn't make it into the movie. Also, Creadance Clearwater Revival are on that disc and not in the movie and they were bigger than the Beatles at the time. |
