A 23-year-old man remains in custody this morning, charged with running over his teenage girlfriend in Las Cruces over the weekend.
Las Cruces Police are still investigating an incident Friday night that sent a 14-year-old girl to the hospital and her 23-year-old boyfriend to jail. Luis Carrasco, 23, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor for his relationship with the underage girl. Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, police were called to the Pic Quik at 2240 Missouri Ave. where the girl had been driven. After sorting through several conflicting statements, police learned that Carrasco, the girl's boyfriend, ran over her while driving a vehicle on the 2000 block of Stanford Dr. After hitting the girl Carrasco apparently dragged her underneath the vehicle for around 100 feet before coming to a stop. The girl sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to Thomason Hospital in El Paso. At last check she was listed in stable condition. Carrasco was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center under an $11,000 bond. |

My question; What kind of parent would let a 14 yr old, go out with a 23 yr.old? I think charges of child neglect should be brought also.

Don...
I agree, what kind of parents does she have to allow this to happen?? What in the world were they thinking allowing their daughter to get involved with a guy so much older than she is??? |

So many neglected kids anymore, kids having kids with no idea of what RAISING a child really means. Know a couple, bald tires, split in tire face & they would rather spend money on a surprise 30th birthday party for him, than buy new tires. 2 cute little girls ride in that vechile everyday & mom has a neavy foot. Blow out will mean roll over. I think of it everyday. PRIORITIES?????

So sad when people get into such out of balance relationships. I agree that a parent should have stepped in and protected the young woman but hopefully it will make all women look at the personalitiies of the people they hook up with. For all we know her home life probably was worse and nobody had done a thing about it her whole life. Sounds like this guy had disaster written all over him too. I feel sorry for the helping professionals that had to deal with this night mare. Who sold them the alcohol they deserve to loose everything they own for contributeing to this lethal combination.

a friend of mine did the same thing to his then WIFE. found he cheating on him. He did get charged with attempted vehicular homicide. TOO BAD hey?! he got what he deserved.
Oldsage i can APPRECIATE what your saying shugar BUT..what about decent parents just trying to raise up our youngins free of HARRASSMENT and bougus threats or even removal from the home of MY KID for FALSE CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT calls to CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES?? This has happened now to me 3X. Found out who did it. NO MORE visits to the grandmas on dads side. I am DONE. It cost me everything defending myself for what? False allegations. OH! aint the laws here wunnerful in america? The angry ex or relative makes that ANNONYMOUS CALL to CPS and the caller and FALSE ALLEGATIONS of anything from CHILD SE#UAL ASSAULT/ABUSE/NEGLECT have NO CONSEQUENCES and YOU cannot do anything LEGALLY to the one who makes that BOGUS CALL. BUT! you are in for the fight of your life. AND you can be charged in another court AND still lose your child/children by being WHAT? a RESPONSIBLE/DECENT PARENT. now the ones who REALLY ABUSE/NEGLECT their kids? they just turn a blind eye to that oldsage. I have NO respect for CPS or KANGAROO COURT. |

Oldsage - I guess the parents are too busy making money to keep up with their material lifestyle and no time to see what thei children are up to.
In this case, a lesson learned for the child. She is in this situation because she thinks she knows better. We all have life lessons to learn and I believe this is one for this child. |
