Can someone please tell me what a player is? Is it someone who plays with your heart but has no intention of. .doing anymore? I saw it on a profile and just wondered. Thank you in advance for the replies

Someone who will go with the flow, uses a person's weaknesses for his advantage and then executes his ulterior motives.

Manipulator. Mind games.

Someone who 'plays' on the emotions of others for his/her own advantage or agenda

No. Worse.
Hit and run is mostly a case of an accident when someone who unintentionally caused it decides to leave and avoid taking a responsibility.
Players plan both hit and run route in advance. It is not unintentional at all and their victim is not there by chance, but carefully targeted.
Intelligent and experienced manipulators can be very dangerous depending on their intentions and choice of victims.
So the difference is in a motive. In most cases of hit and run, motive is to avoid responsibility. Manipulators play mind games without empathy and responsibility for their targeted victims. They intentionally use other people's weaknesses for their own purpose, mostly for gaining something of material nature.

True. Players are arses. Absolutely.
But, an arse isn't always a player.
I'm a perfect example of a non-player arse.

Players come in all shapes, sizes and colors...They can be male or female...They are skilled manipulators who use lies and head games to seduce people...Dating is just a hobby for these peeps...Players are interested in having fun and getting laid...What makes them so dangerous is in the beginning they are so damn charming you don't notice their mean spirited, backhanded compliments that, in time, ALWAYS come because these compliments are designed to keep you off balance by making you feel "less than"...A couple of examples would be, "You look great for your age" or "You carry your weight really well"...
Players are insecure, the more hearts they capture, the better they feel about themselves...One of the most telling signs of a male player is how adept he is at playing one woman against another...Dating sites are fraught with players...If you are looking for a keeper, pay close attention and spend a significant amount of time talking and emailing BEFORE you agree to meet them....Good luck Angel!
