now I new about the older gentlemen but not the younger one ...
an happy they got released but what is being said now is Rodney s letter he wrote before to his friend had something more to do with their release seems looking for some credit for this ... Do you believe that helped or not ? http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/north-korea-releases-americans-matthew-miller-and-kenneth-bae/2014/11/08/5023f922-675f-11e4-bb14-4cfea1e742d5_story.html |

The citation mentions nothing about a letter.
Congratulations to President Obama and his staff for securing their release and for sticking to their plans on how to handle North Korea. |

I am glad they are out too.
But what where they doing there in the first place? They put themselves in harms way.. then had to be bailed out. Everyone knows the guy is unstable.. and that country is a black hole. Don't go there!!!! In my opinion we( America) should put out a warning statement to our people who are thinking of going there. Don't go... because If they grab you... you are on your own... we're not coming for you. |

We do. The last one was dated 5/20/14 and replaced the one issued 11/19/13. http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings/north-korea-travel-warning.html One of the ironies is that, as U.S. citizens, we're free to come and go and heed - or not - any warnings. |

they either listen or not and i agree no more... think ur a friend take ur chances but other then that ... people have to know they take that risk of being captured an held as a hostage... I believe we know enough about the country now ...to know how they really are and have been over the yrs... Maybe Rodney paid for their release ... who really knows at this point ... but again very happy they got released... and welcome home ...

I wonder how much their release cost the American Taxpayer?

Pretty sure Clapper's a salaried employee, so the cost is the same whether he's on the clock or not, whether he's working on this pesky little problem or some other pesky little problem.
The only other cost would be the plane flight to get there and back; since he met with "a number of North Korean security officials during the roughly one day he was in the country", there would have been little - if any - hotel expenses and the whole trip can be written off to "international relations". Again let me [apparently be the only one to] say: congratulations to President Obama and his staff for securing their release AND for sticking to the game plan on how to handle North Korea on a worldwide stage. |
