the tempest beats the olden doors
candle light flickers in the darkness
stammering a silent and sad song
I wait, I wait ... I wait

midnight
torrents run on the window pane
screeching like a mind gone bad
rips of the fabric that wears of tears
I wait, I wait ... I wait

so dark
light gives out to the shuttering boards
frightened light trickling through blackness
streams of metallic gray
I wait, I wait ... I wait

sullen
staggered breath wanders a small room
moves the lonely pages by torn edges
old words written cracked and faded
I wait, I wait ... I wait

midnight
quiet eyes drift slowly down
arms locked in for the mad sway
lips push the muttered thoughts
waiting, waiting ... waiting
