A late blooming willow stands alone on a hilltop,
Desperately scanning the valley below. Searching for a vision, if spied weeping will stop; Lush fertile land where much beauty can grow. Days were spent in the sun, when the willow was a sapling, Content--greeting rain clouds with adoration. By moonlight this willow's roots, were deeply grappling; All it's energy, focused on, building a firm foundation As the willow reached maturity it grew a sprawling canopy; Trunk and limbs of great strength and girth. With thick green draping leaves, beneath overshadowing, This lone willow can no longer see it's grounding in the Earth. Saddened by loneliness, the willow started withering; Its lowly hanging leaves now in retreat. Through the thinning density, song heard above the dithering, Pretty lilacs came into focus at its feet. In this lush fertile land, a new romance sweetly bloomed; Cascading new leaves the willow did deploy. These companions sang in harmony, together their spirits swooned, This willow's lonely weeping, gave way to tears of joy. Though they never could touch physically, Their roots are entwined energetically, The Willow & Lilacs will forever be, A beautiful dream that in my heart I can see. |
