hi... im new to this whole thing... but i have noticed not many people in my area active... is this site even alive?

Yes! This site is ALIVE. Maybe not much active in your area but it's ALIVE worldwide! Try to be active in the FORUMS as well and you'll meet a lot of online buddies. Welcome to M2! :)
