45 years ago today, niel armstrong and buzz aldrin landed on the moon.

it took 70 years from the time the wright brothers slapped together their flying contraption outside of their bicycle shop for us to achieve this. the crew traveled 240,000 miles from the earth to the moon in 76 hours.

they had only 30 seconds of fuel remaining when they touched down on the moon's surface.

the television audience for the event was an estimated 600 million, which held the record until the royal wedding of princess diana to prince charles in 1981. witch grabbed a tv audience of 750 million.

they only spent 2.5 hours walking and collecting rocks, soil and other scientific data. less than 24 hours after the landing they docked with columbia and headed back to to earth.

When you think about the time they were in and technology they had, it was like they had determination that was....out of this world.
