This thread comes at the perfect time. I let my " best friend" live with me for three months. She became someone psycho and is trying to ruin my life. So much for trying to help someone out.

I choose friend. I always hated gossip. So if the "friend" can't tell me to my face, they're a scaredy cat, and are probably more worried about being in with the in-crowd, which is why it's sometimes a mistake for me to ever let them in. If they're more worried about their social status, then what are they doing being in my life? I remember Missy Elliot made a song called 'Gossip Folks'. Let the chips fall where they may, because how would you know half of what anyone told you was true? You're only going by what they tell you. But is their truth the REAL truth? Life's too short for me to wonder about what whoever is saying about me.

I still believe that people enter our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. So I don't trip out when some one falls out. Just like dating life has it's own weeding process. Of course friends get by with more. For the most part I have been let down precious little.

This one struck a cord with me having lived in states far from home and not knowing anyone, you can tell how people really are when you are the " new guy" and sometimes its not very pretty. |

This one struck a cord with me having lived in states far from home and not knowing anyone, you can tell how people really are when you are the " new guy" and sometimes its not very pretty. I know the feeling all too well. The thing about always being the new guy is we automatically stand out whether we want or mean too, and its how we make the best of each situation that determines the connections we make or not. If we're accustomed to moving on regularly, like during the years of my father's military career, we learn to be happy in our own company and if the occasional native elects to become part of our world then we've got at least one foot in the door. That's been my experience anyway. |
