brewing in the rockbottom
place of me
stand back
protect yourself
from the sizzle
this is how houses burn

the man in the moon
holds pain
everything is black and white
this is how we feign clarity
everything is white and black
this is how we find sanity
through a crack beneath a door

I kiss my fingertips and hold
them against your mouth
just enough to last
until the sun's next visit

let us understand one another
beneath these sheets
let us give and give and give
again and again and again

just once
