Wonderful Counselor.

And his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting
Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
The term "Wonderful Counselor" also
refers to the counsel of a king.
In Micah 4:9, the prophet asks,"Now why
dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in
thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs
have taken thee as a woman in travail,"
thus equating the king with the counselor.
He's
dealing here with the wise counsel of a
king-counsel backed up with power.
Now, the Hebrew word translated
"wonderful" actually means "mighty acts
and deeds, miraculous works."
Therefore, this is talking about miracle-
producing counsel that comes from a king,
and that king can only be the Lord,
because He's the only One that gives you
inward counsel that produces miracles on
the outside.
For example, only the Lord could have told
Moses, "Take your shepherd's rod, go to
Pharaoh, and wield that rod before him
and there would be miracles."
Only the counsel of the Lord could have
instructed him, "Hold that rod in your
hand, stand before the rock, strike it, and
water will come out."
Ordinarily, these counsels don't seem to
make sense, but the Bible says where the
word of a king is there is power
(Ecclesiastes 8:4), and we're talking about
the counsel of not just any king, but the
King of kings! He was the same One that
gave Isaac the
miracle-producing counsel at a time of
famine.
Following a prolonged dry season all over
the land of Canaan, everyone was fleeing
to Egypt.
Isaac too was about to flee to Egypt when
he received counsel to stay in Gerar (read
Genesis 26:3-4).
Isaac obeyed, and in line with the divine
counsel he received, every time Isaac dug
a well, in spite of the drought, he struck
water.
The people couldn't understand it. In the
midst of severe famine and drought, the
Bible says "Isaac...waxed great, and went
forward, and grew until he became very
great: (Genesis
26:12-13). How inspiring!
The counsel to Moses and Isaac, alluded to
in our study today came from the Lord;
otherwise, they'd have failed woefully and
resulted in utter
disaster! You can trust the the Holy Spirit,
to instruct you from within, and give you
miracle-producing counsel. He's your
"Extraordinary Strategist."
When He tells you to do something,
it may sound illogical, but it'll bring forth
outstanding results. Receive His counsels
and you'll have direction.
PRAYER:
Thank you blessed Holy Spirit for granting
me counsel and direction from within, to
function with such extraordinary wisdom
that the
adversary can't withstand or gainsay. I win
today and always, because I'm guided by
the Extraordinary Strategist, who provides
me miracle-producing counsels, in Jesus'
Name. Amen.
