John Boehner Thinks He's Literally 'Living on Borrowed Time'
news.yahoo.com/john-boehner-thinks-hes-literally-living-borrowed-time-125429487.html Speaker of the House John Boehner had a rough 2013 - his party turned against him and shut down the government. Now, the poor guy is contemplating death, or at least the death of his career. At a San Antonio, Texas luncheon on Monday organized by local chambers of commerce, Boehner sat down for a live interview with the Texas Tribune. When asked whether he'd remain speaker after the midterm elections, he said: Listen, I'm going to be 65 years old in November. I never thought I'd live to be 60. So I'm living on borrowed time. The Ohio Republican said he expects to be the speaker next term, but that he can't "predict what's going to happen." He didn't commit one way or another. Many in the party are worried about the balance between establishment Republicans like Boehner and the vocal Tea Party members in the House. As Politico's Jake Sherman notes, some see Boehner's willingness to talk more about immigration reform as a sign he might give up the gavel to the rebels. During the interview, Boehner did comment on reform, which has been stalled since last year because he won't bring a bipartisan Senate bill to the House floor. He said Congress is "getting closer" to passing some kind of immigration reform, and that the midterm elections shouldn't have any bearing on whether or not the job gets done: "This is not about politics. It's not about elections; it's about doing the right thing for the American people. It's about doing the right thing for the country. Period." Meanwhile, Tea Party candidates have tied Boehner to "amnesty" during their midterm campaigns. Bryan Smith, who's challenging Republican incumbent Rep. Mike Simpson in Idaho, ran ads this week alleging that "Boehner ally" Simpson supports "amnesty" for "illegal aliens." So Boehner will likely remain a symbol of D.C. establishment interests throughout the end of his career. Maybe the fact that he's held on to the gavel this long does make him a living miracle. |

the speaker for the House needs to change to someone with tea party roots! that way when someone is found of being in comtempt they will actually face jail time!!!! And to just whom would you be referring: Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Sarah Palin? Tea Party, those poor misguided souls that believe they can change the stripes of a politician. Once a red teamer, always a red teamer. Until the people wake up and realize that electing one from a party is but the illusion of choice. That choice is always based on a choice of worse and not as bad. Which team fits the bill depends on the agenda of the owners, currently blue team in power, a power that doesn't exist but is just the conditioning of the masses that believe they have the right to bestow some sort of authority they don't possess to another. The sum total of zero multiplied by any number is still always zero. |

Dump him and anyone else who doesn't believe Immigration Reform means enforcing immigration laws that are already in place.

Dump him and anyone else who doesn't believe Immigration Reform means enforcing immigration laws that are already in place. I agree with dumping them all and just starting over. And while this country needs immigration reform desperately, I would say we should start by collecting anyone here illegally, documenting them and deporting them with a stipulation they may never be citizens due to their blatant disregard for out laws. And then when we have the space, we allow immigration in accordance with the understanding that immigration is for citizenship. Citizenship means denouncing allegiance to any other nation and acceptance of American moral and ethical codes. If they want to make our country like theirs, then stay there, we don't want them. It was like all those New York Jews that went to Florida to escape New York only to turn Florida into New York. But there is justice in the world, all the Hispanic immigrants have been moving north from Miami obliterating their little New York in the sun. |
