Silent Honour and Mirror Image, both novels by Danielle Steel. Angela and The Scarlet Thread, both by Francine Rivers. Give 'em a try. Oh and try Terri Gerritsen's books as well, worth your precious time.

I know it sounds lttl too girly.. bt "P.S. I Love You"(the book, not the movie) really brought a trickle of tear..
