We weren't promised oil or a pipeline, just like Iraq that was not the reason. We were promised to be included in the competition and the bidding for it that is all.

The war really wasn't about the oil but how the oil was paid for.

And as for Afghanistan, it has the same significance as Egypt and something is either to be bought or wide-spread civil unrest. Funny that things are so quite waiting to see just who gets elected.
