I heard on the news this morning that the "Administration" had ordered that old (over one year) applications for veteran's assistance (including medical) be destroyed (and were). This reduced the number of veterans "backlogging" the system and makes the administration look like they have reduced the backlog problem.
Anyone heard more? I heard minutes later that huge cuts were planned in the military including retirement, benefits, etc. Non-military entitlements were not to be cut. I find it outrageous that retirement and benefits to the veterans will be cut, the ones who have risked their lives for our country, but the other entitlement programs won't be touched. |

Came around last fall also. But what the heck, no problem sending our young people over to foreign to kill people that have never wronged them to support our corporate way of life but can't have their medical problem burden society now, can we? But hey, perhaps we deny them a free id so they will be inconvenienced further if they want to vote. |

Perhaps the "news" is that it actually happened. |

Perhaps the "news" is that it actually happened. I remember a couple of the vet's at the VA center talking about it early last fall. This could be a new case of the same thing as an on-going affair. |

The news today is that they would be expanded. I had understood that they were just to be left alone. This stinks! |

The VA calls it "purging records" or "administrative closed" appointments, it sounds better than destroying records or destroying evidence of incompetence. I heard there were requests for treatments from as far 2001 that were destroyed because the vets "probably got treatment elsewhere or might have died". That was the justification they used for "purging" anything over a year old. It's just a typical CYA administrative act.
http://washingtonexaminer.com/veterans-affairs-purged-thousands-of-medical-tests-to-game-its-backlog-stats/article/2544580 Thousands of orders for diagnostic medical tests have been purged en masse by the Department of Veterans Affairs to make it appear its decade-long backlog is being eliminated, according to documents obtained by the Washington Examiner. About 40,000 appointments were “administratively closed” in Los Angeles, and another 13,000 were cancelled in Dallas in 2012. |

Ought to do some purging on those Phlockers with some Castor-Oil or some other Harsh Laxative! |

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." ~ Henry Kissinger For today's military I could possibly agree with his statement. During the Vietnam era, there was the draft and unless you ran to Canada or elsewhere, they came for you. That era also produced the most educated military of all time as a lot of draftees where inducted after gaining college degrees and their deferrments expired. But in today's world, volunteering to go to war to protect some corporate plunder rights, just plain stupid. But then in this wrecked economy, some have no economic choice and have to undergo the horrors of war just to survive. And if you haven't been there and experienced those horrors, you have no idea. So why I think their choice would be stupid, I admire those that have been through it all. They are truly heroes and most now know the extent they have been used as pawns. |
