Don't lie to spare hurting feelings.
Be honest. it may be hurt at first but will respect you more for your honesty. It get's tiring meeting people that use you when they want or need something and then forget that you exist once they have gotten what they want or need. If someone doesn't want you in your life, then stop trying to make yourself a part of theirs.
