In the mid 60's I was in high school, 1968 I went to Nam, came home in Jan of 1970.

I was reflecting on how different things are today, prices, policy and such.

Can you list 10 things from your "high school" years, whenever they were, to show the changes in life, prices, politics, and styles?

Don't worry about repeating someone elses experiences, it will help to better fill the timeline.

1. July 20, 1969.... man walked on the moon.... I had just completed my 1st year in Vietnam.

2. Computers were the size of a 10 story building..... back then, it was Ma Bell, the gov't, and universities that "owned" them.

3. Gas was around 20 cents a gallon

4. Cigs were 20 cents a pack

5. Color TV was first broadcast in 1953, "The Colgate Comedy Hour" was the first color show, but most households in the 60's still opted for the less expensive black and white sets...... if they owned one at all.

6. A 12 pack (short case) of beer was $2.20, a 24 pack (long case) was $4.40, and came in bottles, not cans.

7. There were no cell phones, and telephones had rotary dials. 1963 - The first push-button telephone goes into service.

8. The shows on TV "took commercial breaks" between programming, and it was usually the host of the show holding up one or two items, taking about one minute before resuming programming.

9. November 22, 1963: Death of the President.... JFK assassinated in Dallas.... The war is escalated, the draft reinstated, resulting in 53,000 dead and missing American youth, and the deaths of over a million Vietnamese. The world changes adopting the "Just Cause/Police Action" policies of the Korean War as Congress refuses to declare the war the new president, Lyndon Johnson, wants so badly.

10. In my high school years, we could fill the car with gas and kids, buy a case of beer, smokes, drive an hour to the beach, spend the day, eat burgers, fries and cokes, then return...... all for around $10. My parents mortgage payment for our 4 br home was around $70 a month and the average wage was around $2 an hour.

So come on! What do you remember?

A side note...... My parents hated my older brothers "ELVIS" and my "Beatles" were "of the devil!"..... rofl
