And God made two great lights; the
greater
light to rule the day, and the lesser light
to rule
the night: he made the stars also
(Genesis
1:16).
We read in our opening verse that God
made
two great lights, the "greater light" to
rule the
day and the "lesser light" to rule the
night.
"Light," in the Scriptures, symbolizes
"truth."
Just as there're different kinds of light,
there're
also different kinds of truths revealed to
us in
Scriptures, and they don't rank equally;
there're
lesser truths and greater truths.
For example, when we say, "God is going
to
heal you today." As much as that's a
truth, it's
a lesser truth. It's wonderful to know that
no
matter the ailment, you can receive
healing,
but God's best for you is divine health. As
you
mature in the things of the Spirit, you
move
from asking for healing to living in divine
health.
Deliverance is also a great truth, but living
in
divine protection is a greater truth. All
through
the ministry of Jesus, He never needed to
be
"set free" or "delivered" from the devil or
any
trouble. There's something greater and
better
than deliverance: it's living above and
victorious always. Put the Word to work
in
your life, for the Word is the true light
(John
1:9, 17:17). Measure your life's
experiences
with the greater truths of God's Word.
It's your
responsibility to appropriate that which
has
already been consummated for you in
Christ
Jesus, and live the higher life to which
you've
been called.

enlightenment and understanding granted
me
by the Spirit to know and live by the
greater
truths of God's Word. I'm confident that
I'll
consistently make progress and walk in
victory,
