I was driving the company minivan back to work from an event, when I noticed a cat crouched along the side of the upper deck. I was a bit worried, so when I could, I hung a u-turn and went back in the hopes that I could keep it from becoming roadkill.

I slowed down passing the cat again and parked along the side and put on the hazard lights. I slowly walked back towards the cat that was still crouched in the same location facing away from me. The plan was to see if I could get the cat to come with me (if possible) I was concerned that the cat might see me, get scared, and run into the traffic. I started calling out "here kitty-kitty". The cat turned, and saw me and darted...

right into a little hole. It was some kind of upper deck drainage ditch.

The cat looked young. Probably less than 6 months old, and I would guess It's been living up there all it's life. Given how fast the cat ran into that hiding spot, it wasn't scared until it saw me, and is used to the traffic. So I headed back to the minivan, a little less worried.

On the way back to the minivan, I noticed another vehicle parked ahead with a woman walking towards me. She also saw the cat, turned around and headed back like I did. I told her about the hole and how it's probably the cat's home, and she was less worried too.

So that was a little of my day.

If that would have been me seeing where the kitten had darted into, I would have returned and try to coax him/her out with a can of tuna, inside a humane trap and taken the kitten out of there. Use to being around traffic or not it is still too dangerous.
